关于我们
Hyphen Innovations stands out from the competition by using affordable manufacturing solutions to assist the DoD and Aerospace customers in developing low-cost and damage resistant systems for future air defense strategies, efficient propulsion solutions, and general aviation applications. Affordability is the highest priority in the company’s mission. Therefore, we are using low-cost laser powder bed fusion (LPBF), metal FDM (fused deposition modeling), metal binder processes, and laser wire fed DED (Directed Energy Deposition) to either reduce manufacturing cost or provide repair processes of critical structural components. Hyphen Innovations has nearly two decades of experience in turbine engine structural design, materials/component testing, advanced manufacturing methods, and Department of Defense (DoD) procurement activities. Past performances associated with Hyphen Innovations include structures lead or small-scale supersonic propulsion, initiating the advancement of sustainment technologies for rotor repair, constructing the development test matrix for a moon rover component, and leading the advancement of powder metallurgy superalloy use in lean manufacturing practices.

Revolutionizing Aerospace Manufacturing with Meltio Technology! Hyphen Innovations is proud to be part of Dayton, Ohio's rich history of aviation innovation with our i-DAMP technology (Inherent Damping via Additive Manufacturing Processes)!?Hyphen Innovations leverages cutting-edge additive manufacturing (AM) to suppress vibration in turbine engine components. Central to our success is the Meltio M450 laser wire-directed energy deposition AM system. Meltio’s high-performance, affordable metal 3D printing solutions enable us to strategically leave unfused powder within parts, drastically reducing vibration by up to 95%. This innovation technology not only extends inspection intervals but also significantly lowers maintenance costs in the aerospace industry. Meltio’s laser wire directed energy deposition is transforming the landscape of metal additive manufacturing by creating high-performance, cost-effective, and user-friendly metal 3D printing solutions. Leveraging cutting-edge wire Laser Metal Deposition (LMD) technology, Meltio is setting a new standard in the industry. By focusing on affordability without compromising performance, Meltio is making metal 3D printing more accessible to a broader range of industries and applications. With just five employees and over $1 million in equipment, including Meltio's advanced 3D printing system, Hyphen Innovations is transforming traditional turbine engine manufacturing. As we continue to innovate, Meltio technology remains integral to our mission pushing the boundaries of what's possible in wonders of aerospace engineering!

Light Scanning! The new way of reverse engineering a part or object! As of 2022, Hyphen Innovations has been discovering advanced ways of streamline reverse engineering in the aerospace industry. This can include improving processes like testing, designing, and manufacturing aerospace products. In the picture shown, you can see an object placed on a flat surface ready to be scanned. The device used to capture the data of this object is a structured light scanner. The dots on the surface are known as target points, which are used to collect the data of the object by using the light from the scanner to distort the patterns. This can mirror the dimensions and input the replicated object into our software. The object is then uploaded into any CAD software and printed with our in-shop 3D printers. But how does this factor into what we do here at Hyphen when it comes to fatigue testing? Here at Hyphen Innovations, we use the scanner to measure the deviation of the material we are trying to test ultimately measuring its overall strength. It is also used for finite element analysis, quality control, and creating add-ons to already made structures like circuit coverups and even prosthetic arms. You can enjoy more content on our website Home | Hyphen Innovations (hyphenmade.com)! Comment below one object you wish you would’ve scanned before you lost it.

The biggest part of what we do here at Hyphen Innovations is fatigue testing. Whether it is vibration, axial, or rotational testing, each method can determine how many times you can load and unload a part until it breaks. Why is fatigue testing important for the reverse engineering process? Fatigue testing allows engineers to estimate the lifespan of a material or component by understanding how it deteriorates under cyclic loading. This is vital for predicting when a part might fail and needs replacement, ensuring safety and reliability. In many applications, especially in aerospace engineering, components are subjected to repeated stress. Fatigue testing helps prevent catastrophic failures by identifying potential weak points that could lead to fractures under repeated use. Fatigue testing also helps in selecting the right materials for specific applications. This ensures that the chosen material will perform well over the expected lifespan of the product. In other words, understanding fatigue behavior allows engineers to optimize designs, reduce weight, and reduce cost... all while maintaining safety and performance. Many industries have strict regulations and standards regarding fatigue resistance. Fatigue testing ensures that materials and components meet these standards, which is essential for certification and market acceptance. By predicting when and how materials will fail, fatigue testing can help in planning maintenance and replacements, reducing unexpected downtime and associated costs. What makes Hyphen Innovations different is the accelerated decision-making when it comes to fatigue testing! 99% faster than running standard tests! Focused on repeatability and performance! Join Hyphen Innovations and accelerate your engineering skills with hands-on experience in cutting-edge fatigue testing. Learning and growing are top priorities. #fatigue #aerospace #additivemanufacturing #reverseengineering
