Customer focus: In May interior demolition began on the Delta Tau Delta house at Georgia Institute of Technology after much planning and coordination. One of the puzzle pieces put in place was lending from Hyperion Bank financing the renovation of the 28-bedroom fraternity house. . So, when the Spring 2025 term begins in early January, the Gamma Psi Chapter of the fraternity will be moving back into “the Shelter,” as they call it. In July Hyperion representatives including Asif Mujtaba and Charlie Crawford toured the in-progress property with members of the Centennial Campaign Steering Committee who are overseeing the project. . Glenn Cartledge (’80) served as tour guide, with Howell Reddick (’68), President, Gamma Psi House Corporation, and Gordon Keiser (’66) joining. Though he missed the tour, Ken Byers (’66) – a friend of HyperionBank – was instrumental to the project, introducing the group to the bank. . “Hyperion has been very helpful in getting us through the financing phase of the project and Asif has been very enjoyable to work with,” Reddick says. “We could not have gotten this far without Charlie’s, Asif’s and the Bank’s participation.” . Alumni from the chapter led design and planning of the project, using the existing footprint of the house. The exterior got a refresh, while the interior was pretty much rebuilt, including improved, more efficient usage of some areas of the house. This massive undertaking of course included infrastructure improvements, as well as upgrades and improvements taking full advantage of what the chapter says is the largest and best backyard on campus. . “It was fascinating to see the historic structure taken down to the studs inside, where we literally glimpsed history behind some of the walls, and learned former and future uses of the space,” Asif says. “We’ve enjoyed being part of the process and working with so many dedicated and enthusiastic alumni.” . In addition to loans from Hyperion and Delta Tau Delta International Fraternity’s Delt Loyalty Fund, national fundraising contributed to the $4 million-plus project price tag. Other partners on the project include architecture firm ASD | SKY (Thom Williams, a Hyperion customer, is President and CEO of ASD│SKY, also a customer), Metro Green Construction and Elevate Integrated Member Services (fundraising). . “This exciting project is a great example that commercial lending does not always look like what people might first expect, but we’re always happy to work with individuals and organizations – including a fraternity! – to see how Hyperion can best help a customer achieve their goals,” says Charlie. “Plus, we’re kind of hoping for an invitation to the first social the house hosts back in its new digs.” .
