Europe currently produces 300 million tons of waste with the potential to produce over 30 million tons of green hydrogen. It is this potential that HYIELD aims to unlock. During the 4-year project, innovative technologies and processes will be integrated to convert biogenic waste streams efficiently and robustly into high purity green hydrogen. The solution is based on a multi-stage gasification and gas cleaning process based on the WtEnergy Cleantech and water-gas-shift membrane reactor from H2Site to upgrade syngas and separate hydrogen (H2) to achieve >99.97% purity hydrogen. The demonstration plant will be implemented at CEMEX’s cement factory in Alcanar, Spain, where the green hydrogen will improve the renewable share of fuel mix in clinker production. The project is supported by the Clean Hydrogen Partnership and its members. And co-founded by the European Union.

It has been a pleasure to present at the GREEN5 in #Zagreb our efforts within HYIELD Project to approach a rigorous modelling of biomass (waste) gasification for #greenH2 production in CAPE-open license-free software such as #COCO #COFE. The advantages? ? flexibility and generality of the model without the need of extensive (and expensive) experimental campaigns to retune the models for different feedstocks ? open source model to be easily shared and used by any final user ? possibility to identify the proper chemistry and try to figure out what occurs within the gasifier The ambition is high and first outcomes are emerging… The route to suitable and reliable models for bioprocess is challenging and long, but never give up dreaming! For #H2SITE, it was a true pleasure to host the third General Assembly of the HYIELD Project in our city, Bilbao: ?? The consortium members gathered for two days, first at our office in #TorreBAT and later at our membrane reactor manufacturing facility in Loiu. It was a special occasion to discuss the progress and advancements of this innovative project, as well as the next steps. The HYIELD Project represents a pioneering initiative: Europe’s first industrial-scale waste-to-hydrogen plant. ?? The HYIELD project aimed at unlocking the vast potential of waste-to-hydrogen conversion. Currently, Europe generates 300 million tons of waste annually, with the capacity to produce over 30 million tons of green hydrogen. HYIELD seeks to harness this opportunity by developing and integrating innovative technologies to transform biogenic waste streams into high-purity green hydrogen efficiently and reliably. Over the course of this 4-year project, a comprehensive solution will be implemented, centered on a multi-stage gasification and gas cleaning process. This process combines WtEnergy Cleantech's advanced technology with H2SITE's water-gas-shift membrane reactor, enabling the upgrading of syngas and the separation of hydrogen (H?) with a purity level exceeding 99.97%.
