Veterans Day is a time for honoring the courage and sacrifice of those who have served in the military. Observed on November 11th, this day allows us to reflect on the contributions veterans have made to their nation's safety and freedom. At Hyder Construction, we proudly celebrate and support all the veterans on our team, Philip Anderson, Darlene Anderson, Ignacio "Nacho" Esparza, Christian Granquist, Chad "Kep" Keoppel, Enoch Martinez, Joshua Overton, and Rene Robledo. Their leadership and dedication enrich our workplace and reflect the core values that drive our company. Today we extend heartfelt thanks to all Hyder veterans for their service. Driving in winter weather isn't just driving—it's navigating a completely different environment. As snow, sleet, and ice cover the roads, safety becomes paramount. Whether you're a seasoned driver or new to winter driving, caution and awareness are essential. Here are our top tips to keep you safe and sound on winter roads: 1. Increase Your Follow Distance: Leave an extra 5-6 seconds of following distance to give yourself more reaction time. 2. Avoid Hard Braking: Stopping suddenly on slick roads can lead to skidding. Slow down progressively and maintain a safe distance. 3. Take Your Time: Rushing leads to poor decisions. Prioritize safety over punctuality and drive at a pace that ensures control. 4. Maintain a Steady Speed: Sudden acceleration or braking can be risky. Keeping a consistent speed helps maintain control. 5. Avoid Braking on Hills: Braking on an incline can make you lose control or roll backward. Wait to adjust speed until you’re on level ground. 6. Adjust Speed Gradually: Ease into accelerating and decelerating. Quick shifts can lead to loss of control. 7. Keep Your Tank at Least Half Full: A half-full tank ensures you can stay warm in case of a breakdown or unexpected traffic. 8. Skip the Cruise Control: Winter driving requires constant vigilance. Cruise control takes away that immediate reaction time you may need. Remember, taking extra precautions can make all the difference. Stay safe and allow yourself extra time when driving in winter conditions!

Summit Fire & EMS is bringing a brand-new fire station to the Silverthorne, CO community, designed to improve response times and keep residents safer. The new FS10 station will include two full drive-thru bays, a training tower, dorms, a dayroom, and a fitness area, everything needed to better serve the community. We’re proud to support this project alongside Hyder Construction, with SEH team members Tim Nuetzel, Steven J Halewski, PE, Molly Wagner, Christopher Sigit-Sidharta, Joshua D. OZ Architecture has officially moved into their newly renovated and expanded office! Congratulations to the Hyder Construction project team of Colin Stone, Sean Jordan, Mitchell McKay, Matt Johns, Miguel Pasillas-Torres, Christian Granquist, and last, but certainly not least, Superintendent Calvin Bultman on completing the OZ Office Renovation. They had to overcome a lot of unforeseen conditions in the older building. The 20,000 square-foot project involved renovating/upgrading several portions of the existing office space, but primarily focuses on the existing front of house and client spaces. The renovation also expanded into adjacent areas, giving OZ much-needed space as employees return to the office and the company continues to grow. The new office enhances OZ's image, marketability, and client engagement/collaboration. For 26 years, there’s been no Hyder Construction without Lori Helderlein. Lori could give most of us a history lesson on Hyder. A lot has changed since then; however, Lori’s pursuit of perfection has been steadfast. Lori embodies Hyder’s core values of Integrity, Professionalism, and Accountability. Not only is Lori accountable for all her individual work, but she’s also there to hold the rest of us accountable. Lori’s commitment to excellence is evident through countless years of clean audits, payroll perfection, timely payments, and happy owners. We can’t say enough about Lori’s quality of work product and the trust we have in her to deliver on so many critical tasks (payroll, taxes, owner billings, financial statements, etc.). Lori’s as reliable as they come. Lori has also personified so much of what the Hyder culture is today. In addition to displaying excellence in her work, she’s actively involved in Hyder’s volunteer work, social events, and impromptu happy hours. She has a genuine interest in her co-workers. For most Hyder employees, Lori knows your spouse’s name, your kid’s names, and what’s going on with your life. Her passion for the Hyder camaraderie is palpable. “I’ve had the pleasure of working with Lori for 17 years as a project engineer, project manager, business development manager, and my current role. Through the years, Lori and I have worked on countless different tasks together and never once has she missed a deadline or not responded immediately. Whether it was helping me with an expense report as a brand-new PE or helping to close the month financially in my current role, Lori is always Accountable. Thank you for 26 years, Lori!
