Today, HUVO would like to recognize all of our Brothers and Sisters in Arms. Thank you for raising your hands for a life of service and sacrifice, and thank you for honoring and representing your communities. Finally, thanks to all who continue the mission outside of uniform. Happy Veterans Day.

Navigating the path to higher education as enlisted veterans is an ongoing process, and Harvard College continues to be a leader in outreach efforts, honoring and adding to the storied history of the Long Crimson Line. This Veterans Day, please take the time to read about the strides we’ve made and to hear the stories of our peers who walk these halls today.

It's that time of the year again! HUVO will be hosting its 4th Annual Veterans Day Challenge this Friday, November 8th from 8-11am at Harvard Soldier Field Stadium! We are hosting this event jointly with Home Base, a veteran-centered non-profit organization. All proceeds will go directly to our two organizations to support continuing veteran outreach and professional development initiatives! Please join us as we engage in a fun and challenging morning with TWO challenges of your choice: The Coliseum Step Challenge - participants will attempt to climb every set of stadium stairs inside the stadium! The Donut Mile - participants must walk, jog, or run a mile and eat a half dozen munchkins. Time stops upon completion! Complementary refreshments will be available to all participants thanks to the generosity of Stop and Shop, and commemorative t-shirts will be on sale while supplys last! We're looking forward to seeing everyone there!

We are incredibly excited to announce the next installment of the HUVO Veteran Admission Series! You asked and they answered, Thomas and Edward will be back on August 17th at 6am ET! Are you deployed or on overseas assignment? Then sign up and tune in, this session is for you! The energy and the passion that the callers brought for our first call was fantastic and we can’t wait to run it back!

Fantastic programs like Warrior-Scholar Project are hard at work this summer prepping our Nation’s veterans for higher education and we are incredibly proud of the HUVO members who dedicate their time and energy towards helping our brothers and sisters achieve their academic goals! Our Directors of Member Engagement and Administration, Thomas S. and Edward Somuk, are going live on August 5th at 8pm ET to answer your questions about College Admissions, Transitioning to Higher Education, and all things Harvard! Tireless advocates for veterans in higher education, Tommy and Ed are eager to share their personal experience, lessons learned, and the knowledge they possess as stakeholders in veteran success at Harvard and beyond! America’s Birthday: A new year of growth and celebration begins today! Today, we’re taking a minute away from our hot dogs and fireworks to recognize and congratulate Our Nation’s service members and veterans on their 248 years of service to the American people! Our family at HUVO wishes everyone a healthy, happy, and safe year ahead, especially to our recent graduates from the Class of 2024!

In Memorial Hall reside the names of the Sons of Harvard lost in support of the Union cause during the Civil War, a terrible daily reminder of the cost of freedom. Today, we remember and and acknowledge not just the veterans of Harvard, but all of our brothers and sisters in arms who made the ultimate sacrifice for their families, communities, and the ideals that founded our great nation. Gone but never forgotten.

It's time for another member highlight! Though Harvard may have a reputation as a builder of professionals, the education one can receive here is as varied and wide-ranging as its students dare to imagine. Case in point, Logan Smith. One of the Few, the Proud, and a true collegian willing to wrestle with the great questions of our time, Logan's journey from the Marine Corps to Harvard is as unique and interesting as the academic fields where he pursues his passions.
