We recently completed an update to Wichita State University’s Marcus Welcome Center, originally designed as the university’s "front door" and hub for incoming students. Working alongside TESSERE, a fresh, modern look was brought to the space that incorporates Wichita State’s iconic black and yellow branding.? The Marcus Welcome Center’s interactive display hallway received new colors, carpets and wall vinyl. An addition was also built to incorporate more office space, creating a functional and inviting environment for campus tours, orientations and the Office of Admissions. Over the past few years, we’ve partnered with Wichita Public Schools - USD259 to build classrooms with significant upgrades to the students’ learning environments. Recently, USD 259 adopted a new model of classroom that offers some of the newest technology available to middle school students – The Verizon Innovative Learning Lab. To date, Hutton Facility Services has renovated older classroom space to include this lab model into four middle schools. With access to 3D printers, virtual reality head gear and programs, and robot programing software, these classrooms allow students to experience educational opportunities in a more unique and engaging way. We are proud to have had the opportunity to be a part of something so unique for our partners at USD 259.
Check out the new 37,000 SF office addition for POET in Wichita, KS. As phase three of their campus, this office was designed to match the existing building. This design-build addition includes a lounge breakroom, lots of extra office space for their growing team and an outdoor patio area overlooking the pond – among other amenities like customized water features and lighting schemes.? Yesterday and today, Hutton team members had the opportunity to participate in an OSHA-10 training session, led by Tim Cruz with Kansas Department of Labor and Hutton Safety Leader, Jorge De La Torre. This two-day training was open to anyone at Hutton, and it gave participants the chance to earn their OSHA-10 safety certification. At Hutton, we’re committed to a culture of safety that extends beyond the jobsite, starting with every team member, both in the field and in our offices. By empowering our team members with knowledge and tools, we’re reinforcing a proactive, safety-first approach that stays with us long after the job's done.
On Friday, Hutton Design+Build kicked off a new shelter build at Junction City's 5th Street Park. Team members spent the day setting up the main structure and showing the students from Geary County USD 475 some of these basic skills in action. On Saturday, we continued the project, eventually leaving it to the KSU student chapter of AGC, who’ll be wrapping it up over the next few weekends with our guidance and support.
