关于我们

The Husky Seed Fund is an award that brings to life innovative ideas by students that are inclusive, impactful, and inventive to the University of Washington. The fund launched as a pilot program for students on the Seattle campus in 2016 and since expanded to include the Bothell and Tacoma campuses. The fund is managed by students on the Husky Experience Student Advisory Council with funds from the Office of the Provost. Created by students for students, the goal is to bring to life innovative ideas by awarding funds for projects that will enhance students’ extracurricular experience. The winners of the Husky Seed Fund are students who are embracing their Husky Experience. They are making their passions come to life, and gaining the skills they need to prepare for rewarding careers in industry, community and life. As you learn more about their projects, we encourage you to do the same – make the most of your Husky Experience. Husky Seed Fund is managed by the Husky Student Experience Advisory Council (HESAC). ????? We're excited to introduce another funded project from last year, "Eat Together," a mobile experience that's about to change how UW students meet and mingle. Dreamed up by the brilliant huskies, Rachel Hu and Eric Xiao, two computer science undergrads, this app is on its way to making mealtime a prime time for socializing. "Eat Together" isn't just an app; it's a movement towards building stronger connections among Huskies. Whether you're grabbing coffee, lunch, or dinner, this app makes it a breeze to find a meal buddy. It matches you with fellow students based on your schedules and shared interests, making every meal an opportunity to meet someone new. Let's face it, the college experience isn't just about attending lectures. It's about building relationships that last a lifetime. With "Eat Together," Rachel and Eric are tapping into the universal love for food to bring students together in a meaningful way. It's about turning solitary meal times into shared moments of joy and friendship. Together, they're cooking up an app that promises to enrich the Husky dining experience. Download the app, link in the comments! Excited about where this could lead? We are too! #EatTogether #HuskySeedFund #UWSocial

??? Excited to announce the second project that was granted the Husky Seed Fund last year! We're proud to support "Pathways for All Huskies," a visionary project spearheaded by Tiffany-Ashton Gatsby and @Jennifer Perkins, two dedicated Huskies pursuing their PhDs and united by their work in the Disability Studies Graduate Certificate Program. Imagine walking through University of Washington's campus, finding your way with ease, guided by beautiful art. That's what "Pathways for All Huskies" is all about. This project is creating visually aesthetic indicators and signs to mark accessible pathways around key areas like the Quad and Red Square. It's art with a purpose – making UW more navigable for everyone, regardless of mobility. Accessibility isn't just about compliance; it's about inclusivity. By blending art with function, Tiffany-Ashton and Jennifer are ensuring that everyone in our Husky community feels welcome and can easily access campus spaces. It's about enhancing our shared spaces so all Huskies can enjoy the full UW experience. Together, they're not just designing pathways; they're paving the way for a more inclusive campus. #PathwaysForAllHuskies #InclusiveUW #HuskySeedFund

???? Big news from our corner! We're excited to showcase one of our funded projects "Huskies' Precious Plastics" – a project that's all about turning plastic recycling into a daily habit on campus. ?? Their mission is to spread the word about why recycling matters and to get everyone involved. It's not just about knowing; it's about doing. The team is passionate about teaching students and the public how to repurpose plastic actively. ??? Huskies Amy Jean Swanson, Cody Birkland, and Arjun Simha have come up with cool infrastructure that makes recycling plastic easy-peasy. Plus, they're now working on scaling this and rolling out recycling centers across UW campus. How awesome is that? These Huskies are the brains and brawn behind this fantastic project. They're not just talking the talk; they're walking the walk in making our campus more sustainable. ?? Get Involved: Want to be a part of this green revolution? They're actively recruiting for members in their teams. Jump into their Discord - link in comments. #HuskiesPreciousPlastics #SustainableUW #HuskySeedFund
