During Women’s History Month, we’re proud to spotlight Julia Stark, CPA, a St. Louis-based attorney at Husch Blackwell. #TeamHB’s Women's Empowerment employee resource group invited Julia to reflect on what Women’s History Month and International Women’s Day mean to her today, along with the advice she’d give her younger self. Q: How do you #AccelerateAction for women in your own life? I have always been told I am very much a “girls’ girl†among my friends and family, which is why I accelerate action for women in my own life by actively supporting their goals, amplifying their voices, advocating for equality in every space I occupy, and embodying what it means to be part of an empowering sisterhood. Q: What do Women’s History Month and International Women’s Day mean to you today? Women’s History Month and International Women’s Day are opportunities to reflect on the progress women have made, honor the trailblazers who fought for equality, and shine a light on the work that still needs to be done. They are reminders of the resilience, strength, and innovation women bring to every aspect of life. For me, these occasions inspire gratitude for the women who paved the way and motivate me to advocate for gender equity while celebrating the achievements of women in my personal and professional circles. Q: If you could give your younger self one piece of advice, what would you say based on what you know today? Trust yourself, be patient with the process, and don't be afraid to take risks—growth comes from stepping outside your comfort zone, even if you are the first to do it. #WomensHistoryMonth2025

During Women’s History Month, we’re proud to spotlight Carli Pearson, a Minneapolis-based partner at Husch Blackwell. #TeamHB’s Women's Empowerment employee resource group invited Carli to reflect on what Women’s History Month and International Women’s Day mean to her today, along with the advice she’d give her younger self. Q: How do you #AccelerateAction for women in your own life? I continually look for ways to advance and support my women colleagues, whether they are “ahead†of me or new to the profession. It is important to provide opportunities for women to develop new skills, build and strengthen relationships, feel supported and empowered, and have the platform to advance. I am fortunate to be at Husch Blackwell, where I work alongside so many amazingly talented, generous, impressive, and supportive women—and men—within a culture that not only encourages but expects us to show up for one another and our communities. Q: What do Women’s History Month and International Women’s Day mean to you today? Women’s History Month and International Women’s Day mean more to me today than ever before. We are in the midst of uncertain times, where rights that women in my generation grew up taking for granted have been rolled back. We cannot be complacent; we must all do our part to ensure that the progress our mothers and grandmothers fought for is not lost. Women’s History Month and International Women’s Day serve as important reminders of the work that still needs to be done. Q: If you could give your younger self one piece of advice, what would you say based on what you know today? I would tell my younger self to lean into those attributes that are typically defined as “female,†such as kindness, empathy, and curiosity—qualities that women in male-dominated fields are often told to suppress. Those characteristics are not weaknesses. They do not make women less capable. I have come to understand that these traits often make us more capable, better able to understand complex issues and dynamics, and be more effective and powerful advocates for our clients’ best interests. #WomensHistoryMonth2025
