Where does our food come from? ?? At Hurtigruten, we’re committed to locally-sourced dining. Through Norway’s Coastal Kitchen, we partner with and support over 50 local farms, fisheries, bakeries, butchers, cheesemakers, and distilleries along the stunning Norwegian coast. This approach ensures every meal on board reflects Norway’s rich culinary heritage. As we sail the coast, we pick from its pantry, sourcing exceptional, homegrown produce from partners like Lofoten Seaweed and Myklevik G?rd—producers whose growth we’ve proudly supported over the years. "Local suppliers coming to the ship and delivering fresh fish and fresh berries. We have built up the relationships in 130 years. They are our extended family. MS Midnatsol is back on the coastal route between Bergen and Kirkenes! Yesterday, MS Midnatsol departed Bergen on her first voyage with our Coastal Express since 2020 ??? MS Midnatsol represents our history and tradition along the coast. Since 1910, there has almost continuously been a Midnatsol sailing the route, and we are happy to now have her back in her original role as a coastal ship. The ship is specially designed for the journey between Bergen and Kirkenes, capable of handling cargo, passengers, and vehicles. This strengthens the connection between the 34 ports along the route and contributes to vibrant coastal communities. We look forward to new adventures along the coast and hope to see you on board! ?? ?? Knut Jenssen, Maximilian Schwarz, Werner Fleckstein?

??? Hurtigruten has been included on Conde Nast Traveler's Bright Ideas list for 2024 - making us the only company to appear all three years since the list launched! Conde Nast Traveler, the world’s leading travel magazine, launched the Bright Ideas in Travel list in 2022 to celebrate the people and projects tackling travel’s biggest challenges with smart, impactful solutions. This time, it’s our Towards Zero Food Waste initiative that’s earned us a spot. With our “Farm to Table to Farm” model, we’ve created a closed-loop system to minimize food waste. Edible food waste from our ships is collected and sent to a composting facility in Lofoten. There, 319,000 pounds of waste is turned into rich compost, which we deliver back to local farms, where we source ingredients for Norway’s Coastal Kitchen. Passengers enjoy local, sustainably grown produce, and the cycle goes on ?? Being on the Bright Ideas list is a huge honour, and this recognition from Conde Nast Traveler means a lot to our team. What does a safety exercise onboard Hurtigruten look like? ?? We asked Harald Aarsund, the Safety Officer onboard MS Trollfjord, to talk us through a recent helicopter exercise we conducted with the emergency services in Svalbard, and why they’re so important. Safety is our top priority and the foundation of everything we do at Hurtigruten. Every decision we make is guided by our commitment to maintaining the highest safety standards, from daily routines onboard to specialised emergency exercises. By prioritising safety above all, we aim to create a secure, reliable, and enjoyable experience for both guests and crew. "In Hurtigruten we focus on creating an open and fair culture, creating a learning culture, designing safe systems, and managing behavioural choices. By doing so we are creating opportunities to improve our understanding of both system risk and behavioural risk." says COO Captain Gerry Larsson-Fedde ?? A rare meeting in Harstad! MS Trollfjord and MS Otto Sverdrup, which typically pass each other on the high seas, found time to connect in port. For a few hours, they shared the skyline, giving their crews a chance to exchange greetings before MS Trollfjord continued its journey onwards. ?? Moments like these remind us of the camaraderie in maritime life and the connections we build along the coast ?? ???Philipp Hesse #Hurtigruten #MSTrollfjord #MSOttoSverdrup #Norway

Meet one of our talented crew members, Johan Holm, an engine fitter with a remarkable creative side. ???? Using scrap metal, Johan creates unique and artistic figures. For our latest Hurtigruten Foundation auction, he crafted a stunning king crab made entirely out of used screws and nuts! This piece quickly became one of the most popular items of the evening, and we were thrilled to see it auctioned by Martin Emhjellen to a very happy guest for 100 Euros. Even more exciting, all the proceeds from the auction go directly to the Hurtigruten Foundation, supporting our shared mission to fight climate change, strengthen local communities, and combat unsustainable mass tourism. ?? ?? And when you have a happy ship then you know this is the best, best part of the job” – Ingar Lorentsen #Hurtigruten #MSTrollfjord #Norway

?? Hurtigruten is setting sail for a sustainable future ?? We’re unveiling the next step in our SeaZero project: the second-generation coastal cruise ship, designed to operate completely emission-free under normal conditions. With cutting-edge technology like large batteries, retractable sails, and solar panels, the vessel aims to reduce energy consumption by 40-50%. “Hurtigruten has been part of an industry with significant pollution, and it is crucial that we now take major steps to reduce emissions. Our goal is to have an emission-free ship in operation by around 2030,” says CEO Hedda Felin. Developed with VARD and the Norwegian maritime industry, key innovations include: ?? OceanWings sails: Could reduce energy consumption by 10%. ?? Solar Panels: Adding an extra 2-3% in energy savings. ?? Air lubrication: Cutting drag by 5-10%. ??? Smart cabins: Allowing guests to monitor and manage their own energy use via an app. We're working to advance sustainable travel and move towards a greener future ?? #Hurtigruten #sustainability
