Vivian's Village will be a new construction project consisting of 16 one-bedroom residential units. The project also includes a community building that houses a management office, package delivery center/ computer room, and office to be used by virtual health screenings and community health worker programming. SHIF Healthcare, the primary developer for the project, is the largest health and social service provider in the area and is dedicated to the creation of affordable housing as a critical component of a person's health and well-being. Housing instability, caused by lack of affordability, often forces families to choose between paying for rent, utilities, food, or medical care, affecting families' mental and physical health. A growing body of evidence shows that quality, affordability, and stability of housing, as well as the surrounding community, are directly linked to positive health outcomes and well-being. The Vivian's Village residential community is being developed in partnership with a larger community transformation to positively impact health outcomes in the Cahokia Heights community. This residential community seeks to directly link healthcare and housing in the Greater Cahokia Heights area. Services will be provided by SIHF Healthcare and Touchette Regional Hospital, located adjacent to the proposed site. The Vivian's Village residential community is named in honor of the life and legacy of Vivian Cash (1934-2020). Vivian was a cherished member of the Centreville and St. Cla i,r County community, and volunteered and served at a number of community organizations throughout her life. She was the founding member of the Ernest Smith Sr. Apartments Resident Council, which was formed in the early 1990s, and held the position of treasurer until her passing in December 2020. In March of 1999, she was appointed as a commissioner for the St. Clair County Housing Authority, where she served as an officer in multiple positions until her passing. Drake McSperritt spends his mornings gaining hands-on experience at Hurst-Rosche, Inc. as part of Mr. Gallion’s new co-op class. With a career goal of becoming an architectural engineer, Drake recently presented his midterm project to the HHS Ag Mechanics class—a detailed set of plans for the Building Trades house, created using Revit. The project took several hours to complete, and his classmates were captivated, asking plenty of questions! ???? #FutureArchitect #HandsOnLearning
