We're excited and grateful for the opportunity to get boots on the ground and get started on this project for Hurley Construction ! The experienced, hard working, and competent preconstruction and project team has, among other things, made the Revit modeling and clash detection process look easy. This has enabled our crews to 'hit the ground running '! The reality is gathering all the necessary information required (earlier than would traditionally be required) is easier said, than done. The value all involved receive from this early-on preplanning hard work is incalculable. It really makes the actual construction process much quicker, easier, funner, safer, higher quality, more relaxed, controlled, and more profitable for everyone involved in the project. (By preventing scope conflict, change orders, and delays). We run all our major projects through this process but achieving this is not possible without a good GC at the helm leading & hiring other good trade partners, while encouraging teamwork, cooperation and collaboration etc. Thank you! #team #woodframing #multifamily #Steelfab

We had our kick off safety meetings this morning at our job sites, and want to extend our thanks not only to our Hurley site teams but also to all of our trade partners who are participating. It takes everyone. The fourth Thursday in April is Bring Your Child to Work Day, and both Hurley Construction and Hurley Development participated this year as part of our commitment to invest in students considering construction as a career. The kids who came on the Construction team got decked out in PPE, watched a site safety orientation video, then visited some of our active sites today. Adera on Washington Street is nearing completion and the kids were able to see finishes going in and received a lesson in operating the manlift. Skyview Station had a mobile crane pick early this morning, and The Arvon had a concrete team putting in foundations just before lunch. We wrapped for the day with a team lunch hosted by Brady Rude (Thanks Brady!)

CPWR offers a tremendous amount of safety resources on their website for free, webinars on safety topics, and even a safety podcast. They also sponsor the annual national stand-down to prevent construction falls in May every year. It's always a balancing act with safety; it's critical, it's integral to our success as a company and the wellbeing of our employees, but when margins are tight and people are looking for ways to slim the budget, having free materials and training available is an enormous benefit. We appreciate them providing this service and these materials to the construction industry to help keep our teams current on safety education, and safe on our sites. #StandDown4Safety

Exciting news! The Arvon Apartments project is well underway, with the first building's footings already poured and more buildings to follow soon. This development boasts 274 apartment units, 10 lots featuring a mix of townhomes and duplexes, and a future commercial retail component. A big shoutout to our amazing team of consultants, trade partners, and coworkers who have made this project possible. We know that a project of this scale is never accomplished by one person alone, and we're grateful for the hard work and dedication of everyone involved. We've had the Sawtooth Caulking Inc team out at Adera on Washington Street working in several areas over the past week, taking advantage of the good weather. Thanks for the great work team!

This week Hurley Construction and LSW Architects, PC collaborated with Cornerstone Christian Academy in Vancouver, Wa., to have a group of their high school girls come for a site walk to see what "working in construction" can mean. We toured the Adera on Washington Street, which is nearing completion and set to turn over in July 2024, and discussed careers in construction ranging from apprenticing and journeying out in the different trades we have on site, to working with a general contractor as a superintendent or part of the project management team, to working as an architect and all the different factors that go into creating a safe building. Thank you Mark Schlichting, Kyle Rogers, Mike Stromme, Jeff Worrell, and Sarah Taylor for taking the time to expose a new generation of students to the different possibilities available to them through careers in construction.
