Shouldn't all #hu be equal? Yeah... we think so... but... why aren't they? The Human Impact Unit (Hu) developed from work at the Indiana University Bloomington The Ostrom Workshop believes there should be a uniform, normalizing denominator for all #sustainability or #csr efforts. But analyzing market data - from current carbon markets to #rac markets operated by ESG RACs - indicate there is significant market inefficiency. While the median market value of a #hu when found using 14 different market references from CO2 equivalency to food recovery RAC auctions is equal to $69.70, it has a MASSIVE tail - causing an AVERAGE value of $4,684 per Hu. Think that's just a little bit odd? That's the point of #hu2024dsm : to look at how we value "good," why we prioritize some good over others, OR realize we didn't really mean to value it that way (it was just an accident of market inefficiency). The #hu can be "complexly simple," so we think of it in #dragons ... When John Wellington Kent (or, Jack Kent) of City of Burlington, #Iowa , wrote the children's book "There's No Such Thing As A Dragon," he probably didn't realize it would be a perfect illustration for the #hu2024dsm Valuation Summit presented by Nyemaster Goode, P.C. happening at the World Food Prize Foundation in City of Des Moines on June 10-12, 2024. The #hu is a novel sustainability equivalency metric developed through work at the The Ostrom Workshop that proposes - when looking #beyondcarbon - "good" should be measured as the (i) the Impact made to solve a Problem, divided by the (ii) Size of Problem (SOP) per (or divided by) (iii) the size of the population that allowed the Problem to get that big. This method allows any sustainability or corporate responsibility effort to be directly compared - much like how the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) ENERGY STAR program allows any building to be directly compared to any other anywhere else in the country - in a proportional, optimizing manner.
