At just ten years old, Gunner Stringham was diagnosed with sarcoma and traveled over 200+ miles from his home in Kimberly, Idaho, to Salt Lake City for treatment with Dr. Kevin Jones. Seven years later, Gunner is cancer-free and a senior year in high school. For his football senior night, he turned the spotlight on cancer awareness—sharing his story, honoring other survivors, and raising money for cancer research at Huntsman Cancer Institute. There is no shortage of what people can do when they put their minds to it. Thank you for your hard work in helping raise money for Huntsman Cancer Institute!
I am extremely excited and proud to announce that on Tuesday night the Sigma Chi Fraternity Gamma Phi Chapter introduced a brand-new philanthropy event, the Call-a-Thon, where we successfully raised over $50,000 in just two hours in support of the Huntsman Cancer Foundation. This contribution helped us surpass a longstanding goal of $100,000, bringing our total fundraising efforts to $116,000, making us the first chapter in Florida to do so and positioning us as the #2 school in the nation for Huntsman Cancer Foundation fundraising. The Call-a-Thon was a live event where sorority members made real-time calls to friends, family, and alumni, sharing the mission of the Huntsman Cancer Foundation and encouraging donations. The energy and enthusiasm were palpable as every call contributed directly to our fundraising success, creating an immediate and impactful connection with donors. Co-organizing this event alongside Kieran Courtney was a truly rewarding experience. From initial planning to execution, we worked to ensure that this initiative not only met but exceeded expectations. The Call-a-Thon relied on the dedication of our campus community, particularly the incredible sorority members and philanthropy teams from Delta Phi Epsilon Sorority, Zeta Tau Alpha Fraternity, Sigma Delta Tau, Alpha Delta Pi Sorority, Tri Delta, Chi Omega Fraternity Executive Headquarters, and Pi Beta Phi Fraternity for Women who made the calls, connected with donors, and helped drive this remarkable success. I would also like to express my sincere gratitude to Daniel Botero Torres for his support with event setup, Richard Porto for his constant support of the Gamma Phi Chapter and our philanthropic goals, and last but certainly not least, Mason Cox for introducing the Call-a-Thon concept and helping us coordinate every step of the way toward reaching our $100,000 goal. I would like to extend my deepest appreciation to the Huntsman Cancer Institute for their unwavering dedication to the fight against cancer and for inspiring us to continue making a meaningful impact. While we are proud of this accomplishment, our work is far from over. Cancer affects us all, and it is up to us to continue raising awareness, driving impact, and supporting the mission to find a cure. Together, we have the power to be the generation that ends cancer.

I don't always post on LinkedIn, but when I do, it's some pretty exciting stuff... Now that I have your attention, I am thrilled to talk about what I have been up to since I returned home from Melbourne, Australia. Back in November, I started my full-time role as communications specialist at Huntsman Cancer Foundation. A huge shoutout to my amazing team, Jacqueline Brakey and Ashley Springer, who took a chance on this bright-eyed and bushy-tailed recent college graduate. Currently, many of my responsibilities address the more technical side of communications, including database management, data analytics, and HTML. I greatly appreciate the problem-solver hat I get to wear for these projects and find that I am learning more and more each day. Our new campus in Vineyard will be a first-of-its-kind collaboration in Utah County. Last week we gathered with members of the community to learn how we can all play a role in creating a cancer-free frontier.
