In her fall 2024 Ted Talk, Alexandra Amouyel, president and CEO of Newman's Own Foundation (NOF), presents NOF’s ‘100% for purpose’ model that donates all profits to charity. She outlines four ingredients for a successful 100% for purpose business: make a profit, raise money responsibly, reverse governance (foundation controls the company), and focus on impact rather than competition. Amouyel highlights this model's potential to transform business, philanthropy, and capitalism by prioritizing social impact along with financial success.

At the H2HC 2024 Fall Summit, leaders from three regionally diverse Massachusetts Community Action Agencies discussed the vital role that their agencies play in tackling poverty and inequity at the local level. Despite these monumental efforts, systemic inequality persists. As Marybeth Campbell of the Worcester Community Action Council, Inc. has stated, "We strive to make our organization as obsolete as possible. We are an aftermarket solution to root-cause issues." As 2024 comes to a close, we must reflect on the current state of U.S. wealth inequality, and we must also continue to move forward to accelerate solutions for a more equitable future for all Americans. #WealthInequality #SystemicInequity #Poverty #CommunityActionAgencies https://lnkd.in/ef9UgXtQ.

U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) and USDA recently released the Scientific Report of the 2025 Dietary Guidelines Advisory Committee. This report will help guide the federal government in crafting the next edition of the Dietary Guidelines for Americans, which play a central role in shaping national nutrition policies and improving public health outcomes. The new report is notable for its intentional focus on health equity to ensure that factors such as socioeconomic position, race, ethnicity, and culture were considered to the greatest extent possible.?This approach is crucial for addressing disparities in access to nutritious, safe, and affordable food across diverse communities. #HealthEquity #NutritionPolicy #DietaryGuidelines https://lnkd.in/exuaFH_q

Over the holiday week, H2HC Prize for Innovation winner DC Central Kitchen welcomed Vice President Harris and her family to their headquarters as they prepared a organizational record-breaking 69,000 Thanksgiving meals for the DC community. “Vice President Harris and Second Gentleman Emhoff have been staunch advocates for the importance of fighting food insecurity, creating economic opportunities, and providing meaningful service opportunities that unite our communities,” says DC Central Kitchen CEO Mike Curtin, Jr. “For them to return to DC Central Kitchen on Thanksgiving for the third time and see how our impact has grown in our new facility reminds us all that everyone can serve and that everyone can make a difference.”
We are grateful for all the volunteers who joined us at the Klein Center this Thanksgiving, including VP Kamala Harris, Second Gentleman Doug Emhoff and their family! Read more about their visit at https://lnkd.in/evVTvc2r

It was so inspiring to be part of Hunger to Health Collaboratory (H2HC)'s fall summit last week, learning from amazing nonprofits like DC Central Kitchen, Green Bronx Machine, and Alameda County Recipe 4 Health, as well as visionary leaders from foundations and the for profit sector, including Nishant Roy at Chobani, Gordon Reid from Stop & Shop, Cecilia McKenney at Quest Diagnostics and Emily Yu from Newman's Own Foundation. And coming home with a 2024 Prize for Innovation - an honor The Giving Grove shared with some incredible changemakers at Boston Medical Center's StreetCred program - was the cherry on top. Thank you to Nicolene Hengen, MSPH, Richard MacMillan, Samantha L. and their colleagues at H2HC for a fantastic convening and the opportunity to celebrate all those who make The Giving Grove's work possible.

H2HC was thrilled to welcome 2024 Prizes for Innovation winners, StreetCred and The Giving Grove, to our growing learning community at the 2024 Fall Summit on November 21.
StreetCred had the absolute best time ever at the Hunger to Health Collaboratory (H2HC) 2024 Fall Summit yesterday! Our entire StreetCred team loved learning from The Giving Grove, DC Central Kitchen, Green Bronx Machine/Stephen Ritz, Alameda County Recipe4Health, Worcester Community Action Council, Inc., Action for Boston Community Development, Inc., COMMUNITY ACTION PIONEER VALLEY, The Aspen Institute, and so many more luminaries in the anti-hunger space. A huge highlight of the day was, of course, watching our fabulous Medical Director, Rachel Sagor, MD, accept H2HC's 2024 Prize in Innovation. Congratulations to our fellow Prize for Innovation recipient, The Giving Grove! You all are so deserving, and we can't wait to see what you'll do next year and beyond! #H2HC2024FallSummit
