This Thursday, November 21, H2HC will convene thought leaders from across sectors at the Federal Reserve Bank of Boston for the H2HC 2024 Fall Summit. This year's theme, Accelerating Solutions, emphasizes the transformative power of collaborative action to accelerate solutions that advance food, nutrition, and health equity. We will learn from corporate foundations, community action agencies, researchers, federal partners, and community-based leaders paving the way for a healthier and more equitable future. A recent analysis by Deloitte examined the economic impact of health inequities in the U.S. and found that these disparities cost the U.S. almost $320 billion annually, potentially skyrocketing to $1 trillion by 2040. Meanwhile, addressing health gaps and investing in health equity long-term could add $2.8 trillion to the U.S. economy by 2040. Recommendations from H2HC Summits have consistently higlighted the importance of making the business case for health equity. Today, on #WorldFoodDay, we are reminded of the urgent need to address food and nutrition insecurity. The USDA's recent report shows that 12.8% of U.S. households faced food insecurity in 2023—impacting 18 million households, an increase of about 1 million households from the previous year. Disparities were particularly pronounced among low-income families, communities of color, and households with children. Food is a basic human right and a significant social driver of health. Today serves as a call to action to support organizations, policies, and sustainable food systems that are helping to advance an equitable and food-secure future. #FoodInsecurity #HealthEquity #USDAReport https://lnkd.in/e7-B5xfR
