关于我们
The Hunger Solutions Institute (HSI) was established by the College of Human Sciences and the Alabama Agricultural Experiment Station at Auburn University in February 2012 in an effort to further Auburn’s nationally recognized efforts in food security domestically and globally. A foundational principle of the HSI is that hunger is a solvable problem, but only when the relevant knowledge from all academic disciplines is combined with the abilities and strengths of all sectors. By creating multi-sector partnerships at the community, state and global levels, HSI shares knowledge and best practices and creates multi-sector coalitions to leverage the power of collective action.

Yesterday was the 2024 Hunger Free Communities Virtual Summit, hosted by the Alliance to End Hunger! This event brought together leaders, innovators, and advocates to share powerful strategies and best practices for combating hunger at the community level. Historically, most efforts in Alabama to address issues in the food system have been initiated and sustained through the lens of specific needs and sectors of the supply chain. However, the Hunger Solutions Institute at Auburn University (HSI), Wright Food Solutions (WFS), and other state leaders have sought to maximize impact through strategic connection of key programs and funding sources across the food supply chain. Sara Gonzalez & Jimmy Wright joined to share key opportunities for partnerships and funding across the supply chain along with examples of current partnerships to strengthen communities in the southeast.
