Connecting, Convening and Multiplying Best Practices

关于我们

The Hunger Solutions Institute (HSI) was established by the College of Human Sciences and the Alabama Agricultural Experiment Station at Auburn University in February 2012 in an effort to further Auburn’s nationally recognized efforts in food security domestically and globally. A foundational principle of the HSI is that hunger is a solvable problem, but only when the relevant knowledge from all academic disciplines is combined with the abilities and strengths of all sectors. By creating multi-sector partnerships at the community, state and global levels, HSI shares knowledge and best practices and creates multi-sector coalitions to leverage the power of collective action.

This new program is part of our ongoing effort to combat the rising cost of food and help families access essential grocery items, such as milk. #addmilk The Add Milk initiative is made possible through Auburn University’s Hunger Solutions Institute, with support from the USDA’s Food and Nutrition Service (FNS). SNAP customers can get this discount in addition to our Double Up Food Bucks program, which offers 50% off fresh fruits and vegetables. Keep reading > https://lnkd.in/eG-su-jw

  • This week, the HSI team traveled to Birmingham for the Hunger Free Communities Network Southern Regional Convening! Organized by the Alliance to End Hunger, Auburn University Hunger Solutions Institute, and Shipt, this event brought together stakeholders from across the southern states to tackle hunger and food security issues. Our very own Outreach Programs Manager, Dr. Kara Newby, participated in a panel discussing the current status and future of federal nutrition programs.
