"Hummingly continues to deliver top notch courses! Our team loved diving into how to minimize stress and burnout with the work we do. We all left with a better understanding of each other, approaches and suggestions from our peers, and most importantly, a plan of action to support ourselves, our team and the work we do!" - Justin R. Beattey, Vice President of Education and Credentialing, Mental Health America of Indiana Today one of the fab teams from the Mental Health America of Indiana took part in our Leading for Wellbeing and Performance Under Pressure 'workshop in a box'. We love what this team stands for, what they do each and every day, and how they do it! Thanks Justin R. Beattey for sending us this feedback and for prioritizing the wellbeing of mission-driven people - because they're just the best! #WellbeingUnderPressure #LeadingUnderPressure #WorkshopInABox

?? Today, we’re celebrating Jolie Wills, co-founder and CEO of Hummingly, who’s making a difference in disaster recovery across the United States. Jolie, a cognitive scientist and disaster recovery expert, founded Hummingly to ensure that no community faces recovery alone. Since arriving in Denver from New Zealand with the help of DEDO’s global business acceleration program, Hummingly’s Cards for Calamity has provided essential resources, training, and guidance to communities impacted by natural disasters like the devastating Maui wildfires, Kentucky tornadoes, and California fires. As Jolie says: “It’s the locals who drive recovery, and we’re here to make their journey a little bit easier.” Join us in honoring the incredible work of women like Jolie! The team had big smiles today, giving these boxes a gentle pat before they head out the door to work their magic with disaster-impacted communities. A little love heading into communities to spark community conversation and to serve as inspiration on the hardest days. Go well! Thank you to our amazing partner Good360 (Peyton Kliewer and team you rock) for helping make this a reality for local organizations and communities navigating recovery. #EmpoweringCommunityLedRecovery #DisasterRecovery #CardsForCalamity

The power of community conversations for disaster recovery ??

It’s always a privilege to work alongside communities navigating disaster recovery. Last year, flooding hit Greeley, Colorado ??, and a dedicated group of organizations has been working tirelessly ever since to support their community’s recovery. Today, their ‘whole of community’ recovery group took part in a Hummingly workshop, sparking powerful conversations using Cards for Calamity. The energy, dedication, and commitment in the room were truly inspiring. ?? I can't wait to hear about the community conversations to come. A huge thank you to Good360 for donating Cards for Calamity to support flood-impacted communities—helping turn conversations into action! And to Denise Bradshaw at Weld County Government for hosting! Such an impactful session, thank you! #DisasterRecovery #CommunityEmpowerment #Hummingly #CardsForCalamity

A birthday treat this week. Yesterday found me at the #coem conference presenting on ways to keep people at the heart of recovery through innovative programing. Some great conversations had and ideas ?? sparked. But totally unexpected was an impromptu birthday toast, with rum whisked out of an emergency ‘to go’ bag! You know you’re at an emergency management conference and they take the to-go bag next level! Next month marks three years for me in the United States and as I celebrate a milestone birthday I am so grateful for the wonderful people who have welcomed me and all Hummingly had to offer those impacted my disaster. We have lived in many different places over the years and my ‘indicator’ for having settled in is when I bump into someone I know from my new community at the grocery store. But again, emergency managers take it to the next level so it was just so heartwarming to reconnect at this conference with fabulous people from my American emergency management community like; Dr. Mary Schoenfeldt, Joycelyn Fankhouser, CEM, CO-CEM, Elyse Janish, Sadie Martinez, Ian Anderson, EMPS, Merrie Leach Garner, Clessie Anderson, Timothy Mann, Valerie Lucus-McEwen, Shirl Garcia and more! Appreciate you all! #EmergencyManagement #DisasterRecovery #PeopleAtTheHeart #Gratitude

Seeing learning, inspiration and hope from community members who have walked the long road to recovery paid forward to help communities as they forge their own path to rebuilding... just amazing??

Locals aren’t just survivors of disaster—they’re the driving force behind recovery, armed with the skills, knowledge, and determination to rebuild. Cards for Calamity help empower these locals—igniting powerful conversations and connections within communities to help fuel long-term recovery long after the sirens fade. The last couple of weeks have been incredibly exciting for the Hummingly team as Cards for Calamity have been sent out in bulk (in both English and Spanish) to support: ? fire and storm impacted communities across California ?? ?tornada and storm impacted communities in Kentucky?? ?fire and flood impacted communities in Colorado?? ?fire-impacted communities on Maui?? ?a fire-impacted community in Pennsylvania?? We have our incredible partner Good360 to thank for making this game-changing tool available at no cost to these disaster-hit communities across the USA! (And thanks too to American Eagle Outfitters Inc. for so generously supporting the Cards for Calamity for Maui). And we're not the only ones excited. We've had lots of messages from the recovery movers and shakers on the ground in these communities who are anticipating the many ways they'll be using them to support their incredible work with communities. Thank you to our friends at Good360, Peyton Kliewer, Jim Alvey, Maddie Pennie, Grant Fitzgerald and everyone on the Hummingly team who has helped make this happen; Jason Pemberton and Natalie Minuzzo We can't wait to share the stories! #LocalDisasterRecovery #CardsForCalamity #CommunityConversations
