The U.S. House has passed legislation that would allow the Secretary of the U.S. Treasury to unilaterally rescind the 501c3 status of nonprofit organizations. The bill now moves to the U.S. Senate. Please see our joint statement with the?The Center for Community Solutions?and Advocates for Ohio's Future urging the U.S. Senate to reject this legislation.

Tomorrow, the U.S. House will be voting on legislation that would create "redundancies and confusion while providing the executive branch with expansive new authority that could be abused." The legislation would create unilateral authority for the U.S. Treasury Secretary to rescind the 501c3 status of nonprofits. We join with the National Council of Nonprofits in urging Congress to reject this legislation as written.

On Friday, we welcomed Franklin County's Deputy County Administrator Joy Bivens to speak to our membership about funding of the health and human services sector and to discuss ways the County and the nonprofit sector can work together more going forward. We also rolled out a new member resource that will make utilizing our resources much easier for nonprofits, with thanks to the hard work of our Operations & Membership Manager Lindsay Barber and Deputy Director Bhumika Patel for making it happen! Thanks to our generous hosts at MORPC for hosting Friday's meeting!

We had two great workshops this week! A big thank you to Libby Villavicencio for offering a workshop to our members on developing corporate partnerships. And another big thank you to Jodi Segal with Big Change Consulting for offering a Lunch and Learn on employee health & retirement benefits! We are so grateful for our partners who are able to provide critical support and professional development experience to our community. Another big thank you to The Columbus Foundation for funding these programs!

Health and human services nonprofits have had no better partner since March 2020 than our public health leaders at Columbus Public Health (and their peers at FCPH!) We are indebted to Commissioner Mysheika Williams Roberts and her incredible time for the extraordinary generosity they have demonstrated with our members, over and over again--with their time, their expertise, and their resources, as we have all worked to meet community needs.
We hosted a wonderful Conversation with the Commissioner with @ Dr. Mysheika Williams Roberts this week! Thank you Michael Corey for sharing your personal journey with our staff and highlighting the amazing work of the Human Service Chamber of Franklin County is doing in our community. We’re all in this together. #humanity #health #equity #justice
