关于我们
OUR MANIFESTO We’ve come to mistakenly believe that leadership is only for the chosen few. That leaders are born. That they have all the answers. That they are superhuman. But that’s not leadership. Leadership is a practice, not a position. It's something we can learn. It's a capacity we can grow in organisations, teams and individuals. It’s in all of us. It’s for all of us. Leadership requires us to embrace our humanity. To unlearn before we relearn. To speak hard truths. To connect intimately with others. To be a leader is to be human. The future of leadership is human leadership. HUMAN LEADERSHIP LAB Human Leadership Lab is a global leadership development company founded by May Samali in 2020. What’s a difficult conversation you’ve been avoiding? Maybe it’s with a colleague who keeps missing deadlines, or a partner whose actions leave you feeling unheard. Whatever it is, waiting won’t make it go away. Here’s a simple framework to prepare: 1?? Pinpoint the behavior: What exactly isn’t working? E.g., “When you missed the Tuesday deadline, I had to delay my meeting with our client” 2?? Name the feeling: How does it make you feel? E.g., “I feel frustrated and stressed.” 3?? Identify your need: What’s not being met for you? E.g., “My need for reliability and stability is not being met.” 4?? Make a request: What change do you want? E.g., “Can we agree on tighter check-ins to stay on track?” Conversations like these are tough, but clarity makes them doable. Avoiding them? That just makes the problem—and the tension—grow. Whether it’s at work or at home, have the conversation. Your relationships and peace of mind will thank you. ?? What’s one conversation you’ve been putting off? It wasn't luck. It was May Samali that helped me define my values, put language around my growth trajectory, push me to be the best version of myself and challenge my assumptions to call me out on my blind spots. Matched is hugely inspired by the work May and I have done together over the last 3 years. I have become a different version of myself, one I'm so proud of, on both the work and life front thanks to her. ?? It's why building this product is hugely important to myself and Susan Hion-Jarvis (née He) - we want to take the luck out of the equation for everyone across each of their career steps (and life ones too!). We're giving 100 people the opportunity to access a free 1-hour session with one of our 32 Trainers and Master Trainers to help change that. To apply follow the link and tell us how this session will help you reach your next goal faster: https://lnkd.in/gA3zpcD5 Who removed luck for you? Drop a tag in the comments, I'd love to hear ??

It wasn?t luck. It was Rebecca Altman Budak, PCC and Leland Franklin who helped me discover leadership coaching. And it inspired me to launch Human Leadership Lab! Right advice is hard to come by and I?ve joined Matched Community to make knowledge more accessible. Matched is giving 100 people the opportunity to access a free 1-hour session, including with me! To apply follow the link in the comments and tell us how this session will help you reach your next goal faster. It?s time to remove luck from the equation and Get Matched. ?? Last week, I had the opportunity to join an incredible workshop with May Samali (CEO, Human Leadership Lab) on navigating difficult conversations. Here are some key takeaways I’m already applying in my life: - Timing is everything: Choose the right moment and setting and come fully prepared to be present. - Focus on behaviours, not judgments: Observations focus on actions, not opinions— do not make assumptions! - Own your emotions: Recognise and express your feelings, knowing they come from within. No one is responsible for your emotions. - Make a request not a demand: Unmet needs must turn into clear, actionable requests instead of demands. The post image includes a framework to make this easier! Big thanks to May Samali for leading such an impactful session and to Startmate for bringing this to life. I'm already looking forward to the next one! ?? And Kaya Moore, I hope to see you at the Sydney session! #LeadershipSkills #EffectiveCommunication #PersonalGrowth

We have all encountered difficult conversations. Here’s three ways to make them easier: 1. Don’t jump to conclusions Ladder of inference: negate bias and assumption. 2. Acknowledge intent versus impact Communicate intent. Take responsibility for the impact. 3. Communicate with compassion Share observations, not judgements. These are some insights from May Samali at Human Leadership Lab. May’s workshop ‘Mastering Difficult Converstations’ covered the psychology behind tough conversations we often face both personally and professionally. Communicating something ‘difficult’ doesn’t have to be hostile. It was a timely reminder to pause and be present through grounding + conscious intention. Huge kudos to the Startmate team for continuing to hold space for our community of Ladymates and fostering an environment where we can learn and uplift each other.

It's a rare feat to deliver a 90-minute workshop that effortlessly runs well overtime without anyone in the room glancing at their watch. Yet, May Samali from Human Leadership Lab did just that, engaging us with an awesome session on navigating difficult conversations! Key takeaways: ?? Success starts with preparation. Defining your ideal outcome for a single conversation can be a game-changer in navigating emotionally charged topics. ?? Understanding your own emotions and unmet needs is crucial. We can't assume others know what we're feeling…people are not mind readers, therefore specificity is key. ?? Reframe, don't blame. Rephrasing your message as an observation rather than a personal attack can transform the entire conversation. As someone with a strong handle on my EQ, I was pleasantly surprised by the practical strategies May shared. I left with a refreshed perspective and new tools to tackle challenging dialogues. Big thanks to Startmate for the brining together a room of 'ladymates', and to my partner-in-growth Alysha Bodman for always being up for these professional development adventures. #DifficultConversations #ProfessionalDevelopment #LeadershipSkills
