Last week, HSSV President Kurt Krukenberg spoke about Mutual Rescue? and the power of the human-animal bond at WUF WORLD, where a diverse group of visionary leaders came together to support pet-friendly workplaces. This is such a great way for organizations to support their people - it boosts mental and physical health, increases productivity, and breaks down one of the most common barriers to adopting a pet.

It was an honor to share the stage with so many inspiring corporate and nonprofit leaders who believe that everyone benefits from the connection, healing, and unconditional love that people receive from animals Many thanks to Joe Petrillo, Clint Misamore, Marissa Andrada, for organizing an amazing event, nonprofits like Human Animal Bond Research Institute (HABRI), Best Friends Animal Society, Sapien Labs for the important work they do, and visionary companies like Nationwide, Bond Vet, Mars for their unwavering commitment to the cause AND . . . even if it was an accident, it was a once-in-a-lifetime experience to have my name in lights next to the one and only Bernadette Peters!! ??????

For the first time in The Fur Ball history, we are honoring a member of the community who has been a champion supporter in animal welfare at HSSV. Who else better to be our first honoree than Judy Marcus, a founding contributor of The Fur Ball itself! "As one of our most passionate supporters, Judy has made indelible contributions to the welfare of animals and people in the Silicon Valley," says HSSV President Kurt Krukenberg. "As a board member from 2000 to 2006, she played an instrumental role in our building campaign and our evolution from Humane Society of Santa Clara to Humane Society Silicon Valley."
