The Animal Search And Rescue (ASAR) leashes from Humane Innovations were meticulously designed to meet the needs of water rescue professionals in the animal services and fire rescue fields. Both of our models of floating leash use 7/16" rope and feature a trigger snap on one end and a slip lead on the other. The trigger snap can be connected to collars and harnesses and used to tether animals to stationary objects. The trigger snap can also be connected back to the leash (as pictured) to create a no-slip handle. The slip lead features a 1" stainless steel ring. ASAR Floating Leash: This leash features Sterling floating rescue rope and a single buoy to keep it afloat. The buoy can be slid along the rope to keep the ring against the next of the animal and to adjust which end has more buoyancy. This rope has an MBS of?4,271 lbs (not including hardware). The distinguishing feature between these two models is that the ASAR Floating Leash uses floating rope, so no part of the leash sinks. ASAR Pro Floating Leash: This leash features Sterling HTP static rope and two buoys to keep it afloat. A small Prusik knot is used to keep the slip lead from falling off the animal. This rope has an MBS of?6,856 lbs (not including hardware). This leash uses non-floating rope. It relies on the buoys for floatation, so the rope and hardware will sink, but the entire unit will stay afloat. Both leashes have galvanized metal crimps and adhesive lined heat shrink, which create strong, corrosion resistant fittings. These leashes can be washed with warm water and soap and disinfected with peroxide based anti-virus sprays.? ASAR leashes are NOT rated for life-safety applications. The rope specs are included per model, but the hardware should not be used under load. The rope itself can be used within manufacturer guidelines. I help animal services professionals meet their goals through equipment, training, and consultation.

I'm looking forward to presenting at the NY Technical Rescue Conference in May. I'll be doing a session on animal handling for technical rescue environments including high angle, low angle, entrapment, confined space, helicopter, and boat operations environments. And as a bonus, I'm going to present the same session for my location fire department, the Ligonier Volunteer Fire Department. #atr #animaltechnicalrescue #technicalrescue #asar

Free Roaming Dogs: Home Already. Animal welfare is a complex topic, but I've learned a lot in the course of my career. Free-roaming dogs are not inherently worse off than pet dogs. Welfare is objective, not subjective. In my post as a guest writer for this group, I dive into this topic to remind us that our jobs as animal services professionals are to improve health and welfare through a science?based approach to animal management. #animalservices Check out the full post in the Animal Services Professionals Substack:?https://lnkd.in/ebiWpQ7u
