The result, rather than modern talent strategies that drive business growth, is "what we've always done". Practically speaking, this looks like a talent ecosystem that hasn't matched it's technology potential. Rather than enterprise compliant and embedded talent pools that use AI driven matching to connect the right person, with the right skills, under the right contract (freelance, full time, etc), leaders are stuck with approved vendors and an archaic talent experience. Yet talent norms are quickly changing as 2025 is the first year where staffing is expected to contract by 5% globally.     3 of 5: How does GigEagle fit in the broader conversation about work? It shatters the myth that you can keep running an analog talent strategy within a digital world. As Brigadier General Mike McGinley says, “the myth is, hey, if I need the talent, I'll just pick up the phone. I know people, right?”. That might work in a world where you can wait 3 to 6 months for the right talent. But in today’s business climate, you have days, not weeks, and certainly not months. In the words of McGinley, the benefits are “mind blowing”. He continues, “You can just type in random searches, and you'll find expertise you had no idea. And so yes, we all have networks, and as we get more senior, they're even larger, but in no way do you have a sense of what's out there. It highlights how the shift to flexible talent isn’t an incremental “HR Tech” trend, but rather a fundamentally new standard for how organizations and individuals work. This new standard is flexibility over full time, and flexible talent networks over traditional HR and recruiting. Think about it this way…GigEagle is not a new app. It’s a proof point for a new app store, with the 800+ flexible talent platforms being apps facilitating work under this new paradigm. This thinking isn’t new. As early as 2011 Marc Andreessen said “software is eating the world”, and the first freelance platform started in 1997. But as our CEO Matthew Mottola said to an audience of 200 executives last fall, “software is eating the world, but work is putting up one hell of a fight”.
