In a recent post about a Human Resources Leadership Network (HRLN) - Houston event, I had several people reach out to ask me about the organization. Like many organizations, you get out of it what you put into it. HRLN is a confidential peer group that actively engages in open, honest discussions in which CHRO level peers are willing to share both successes and challenges. The trust and mutual respect within the group fosters an environment where one can receive valuable feedback, gain new perspectives, and explore innovative solutions without fear of judgment. In an article by Dan Richards in the Harvard Business Review, he refers to a peer group as a secret weapon in which the group can “confidentially share their current issues and exchange insights that will help each member problem solve, ideate, and move forward.” I may be biased as I serve on the Board of HRLN along with Aaron Sobel, Laurel K. Rutledge, Chief Navigation Officer?, Hang Bower, MHRM and Raquel Couri - but I totally agree with Dan Richards as what he described is what I get from HRLN. The Houston Human Resources Leadership Network (HRLN) is the leading group for HR executives in the city of Houston. HRLN members connect and share leading practices in Human Resources, Leadership, and Industry trends and need to know topics unique to HR executives. This week I attended a members-only event to meet, connect, catchup, and socialize to build deeper relationships with other HRLN members. Having a private group like HRLN is very important because it allows the top HR executives in Houston to speak candidly and discuss industry and market challenges, think of new ideas, and learn from different perspectives. It was great to connect with Peter Dumoulin, Aaron Sobel, Kelly Lewis, Brent McCombs - SPHR, Hang Bower, MHRM, Chuck Kemper, Franny Oxford -SPHR, Janell Zeug, Diane Gallo and others. Overall a great social and networking evening. I am looking forward to our next quarterly meeting where we will dive into interesting and current trends and solutions. #HRLN #CHRO
