Our vision is to be the global leader in engineering regenerative medicine products to save and improve patient lives.
关于我们
Humacyte, Inc. (Nasdaq: HUMA) is developing a disruptive biotechnology platform to deliver universally implantable bioengineered human tissues and organs designed to improve the lives of patients and transform the practice of medicine. The Company develops and manufactures acellular tissues to treat a wide range of diseases, injuries and chronic conditions. Humacyte’s initial opportunity, a portfolio of human acellular vessels (HAVs), is currently in late-stage clinical trials targeting multiple vascular applications, including vascular trauma repair, arteriovenous access for hemodialysis, and peripheral arterial disease. Preclinical development is also underway in coronary artery bypass grafts, pediatric heart surgery, treatment of type 1 diabetes, and multiple novel cell and tissue applications. Humacyte’s 6mm HAVs for AV access for performing hemodialysis was the first product candidate to receive the FDA’s Regenerative Medicine Advanced Therapy (RMAT) expedited review designation, and the HAV technology received priority designation for the treatment of vascular trauma by the U.S. Secretary of Defense. Biomedical Engineering Student at UNC-Chapel Hill | Undergraduate Researcher @ Zylka + Stein Labs | President of Engineering World Health @ UNC | Co-Host and Co-Founder of BioCast
Just over a month and a half ago on September 20th, Engineering World Health @ UNC hosted its very first Engineer-A-Thon. Spanning 12 hours, we hosted Dr. Robert Langer, most cited engineer in history and co-founder of Moderna, and Eric Green, M.D., Ph.D., key figure in the Human Genome Project and Director of the National Human Genome Research Institute (NHGRI) over Zoom for some wonderful talks focusing on biomedical engineering, global health, and the future of genomics. Additionally, we focused on instructing students on engineering basics in conjunction with Carolina Adapts Toys for Children, Karthik Ramakrishnan, Daniel Menichella, Seeva Cherukuri, and the other wonderful exec from UNC Biomedical Devices, and Adam Castiller for instructing during the EWH VR Crash Course. We also hosted a design competition surrounding rural health in North Carolina and received excellent submissions from EWH's dedicated members. We would like to extend a special thanks to our incredibly generous sponsors for making this event possible, BIOMOJO and Humacyte. We couldn't have made this event possible without your support! I would also like to thank the wonderful EWH exec team, Dhruv Ranganath, Sriya Dhanikonda, Samanyu Dixit, and Akshay Elango for working on this event tirelessly with me over the summer and through the school year, adapting to all the setbacks and all the issues we faced, and making the event happen no matter what. Finally, we would like to thank Engineering World Health for helping us with our stock and merch, Mike Wilkins, Imran Rizvi, Devin Hubbard, and the Joint Department of Biomedical Engineering | UNC & NC State for all the advice and logistical assistance leading up to the event. We can't wait to see how we proceed with the event in the future, and once again, we extend heartfelt thanks to everyone involved, and most importantly, all of our participants for making this event possible.
