My team is #hiring! My favorite thing about working at Hudson Ferris is that I no longer have to choose just one nonprofit's cause to work for. I had a great time participating in yesterday’s panel on grants with Haleigh Jinkins and Kelley Malcolm, PhD. It was a great discussion with a bunch of helpful tips for new and experienced grant seekers alike: ?? Be sure to reach out and connect with the funder, if you can. ?? Watch out for the very natural tendency to streeeetch your identity as an organization in order to apply for a tempting opportunity (for example: you work with high school students and find yourself eyeing an awesome opportunity for early childhood arts education. “But we do art sometimes!”) ?? Start trying out AI tools for research and writing support in low-stakes situations first, and always check their work. Be creative and patient! Your AI assistant will never get tired of being asked for revisions. Or being asked to revise your work. ?Thanks to (@)NXUnite by Nexus, facilitator Hannah Thompson, and organizer Malou de Gracia for this opportunity! Missed it? MacKenzie Scott's initial plan last year was to donate $1M to 250 nonprofits. As of Tuesday, she gave 279 nonprofits $2M each and 82 nonprofits $1M each! The Yield Giving Open Call brought in applications from 6,353 organizations. While the $1-2M Mackenzie Scott gift eluded 94% of nonprofits that applied, there are many ways nonprofit development teams can get to, and then blow past, the $1 million mark. Let's jump into a hypothetical scenario showcasing the transformative power of engaged donors. Meet “Stacy,” the high-capacity donor of your dreams. Over five years, her commitment and influence create a remarkable ripple effect. ???????? ??: ???????? ???? ???????????????????? ??? Stacy joins the Board, increases her annual donation to $25,000, secures a corporate match, rallies friends for $15,000, matches their gifts, and introduces her family foundation. $115,000. ???????? ??: ?????????? ?????????????????????????? ?? As Board member, Stacy raises her annual gift to $40,000, expands corporate match, brings in more friends, secures their corporate matches, and convinces her family foundation to contribute $50,000. $190,000. ???????? ??: ?????????? ???????????????????? ??? Promoted to Board Co-Chair, Stacy elevates her commitment to $75,000, maximizes corporate match, engages more friends with corporate matches, fosters a corporate partnership, and convinces her family foundation to renew. $350,000. ???????? ??: ?????????????????????? ???????????? ??? Stacy sustains her contribution and match, advances the corporate partnership, renews friends' donations with increased giving, and ensures family foundation continuity. $400,000. ???????? ??: ?????????????????????? ???? ???????????? ??? Stacy increases her annual contribution to $100,000 with corporate match, furthers the corporate partnership, ensures friend contributions and matches, and secures family foundation support.?$475,000. ?????????? ???????????? ???????? ?? ??????????: $??,??????,?????? Behind Stacy's extraordinary journey, a dedicated team played a pivotal role: ?????????????????????? ??????????????????????: Ensured donations were matched + added to the CRM ?????????????????????? ??????????????????: Sent acknowledgement letters to all donors ???????????????? ???? ???????? ?????? ?????? ??????????????????: Nurtured partnerships with institutional funders ?????????????????????? ???????????????? ?????? ?????????????????? ????????????????: Stewarded Stacy's relationship ???????????????? ???? ??????????????: Ensured Stacy fulfilled all of her pledges This is a broad foundation built by many people, like a tree with deep roots rather than the fruit of one harvest. And your organization is now in a better position to compete for whatever the opportunity is that year. For a smaller organization, your “Stacy” may be giving at a lower level than this, but with careful stewardship by your team, their impact on your mission will still be impressive. #NonprofitFundraising #majorgifts

Thank you to our partners at Virtuous for collaborating on and publishing this blog post on how CRM automation can help food banks and food pantries! Writing this post sparked reflections of my inspirational grandmother, who selflessly dedicated nearly two decades of her life to volunteering at The Family Pantry of Cape Cod and other local nonprofit organizations before her passing in 2019.
