March is Women’s History Month and we’re proud to spotlight a powerhouse in marine science — Dr. Danielle Haulsee our Chief Science Officer and Vice President at Hubbs-SeaWorld Research Institute and proud alumni of University of Delaware. Dr. Haulsee is an oceanographer who leads cutting-edge research across our locations in California and Florida. From tagging sharks in the Atlantic to studying ocean dynamics near Antarctica, her work integrates bio-logging, robotics, and remote sensing to solve real-world ocean challenges — including bycatch reduction and offshore wind impacts. Beyond the lab, she’s a dedicated mentor and advocate for STEM education, especially for women and underrepresented communities in science. Through organizations like the Women in Marine Science Network, the Gill’s Club, and Skype-a-Scientist, Dr. Haulsee inspires the next generation of ocean explorers. We’re honored to have such a fierce leader and role model at the helm of our science team. Last weekend, our Marine Mammal Stranding Program had the incredible opportunity to join the Girl Scouts of Citrus Council at the Riverpoint Program Center in Merritt Island! ???
