Advancing Florida’s Thriving Ocean Economy Hubbs-SeaWorld Research Institute is proud to collaborate with the Florida Ocean Alliance (FOA) to promote sustainable growth and resilience in Florida’s #BlueEconomy. Dr. Jeff Eble, a valued member of FOA’s Executive Committee, recently participated in the FOA Leadership Meeting, which brought together influential business and environmental leaders from across the state. This gathering focused on fostering coastal environmental sustainability and economic resilience, both critical to ensuring a prosperous and sustainable future for Florida’s ocean economy. We are honored to contribute to this essential work and look forward to continued collaboration with FOA and its partners to safeguard Florida’s coastal and oceanic resources. #FloridaOceanAlliance #Sustainability #BlueEconomy #OceanConservation #Leadership

"Dolphin Health Update: Post-Hurricane Monitoring After #HurricaneMilton, we saw a significant drop in salinity in Halifax River, which impacted dolphin presence. Fortunately, salinity levels are gradually improving (now at 6-7 ppt), and we’re beginning to see an increase in dolphin activity. However, low salinity can pose risks to dolphin health, including skin lesions, eye swelling, and other issues. While we’ve observed mild lesions, they are consistent with freshwater exposure. Importantly, there have been no signs of severe lesions, behavioral changes, or mortality, suggesting that the dolphins are limiting their time in low-salinity areas before moving to higher salinity zones, such as near @PonceInlet. We’ll continue to monitor their health closely and appreciate your support as we work to protect these incredible animals. #MarineConservation #DolphinHealth #OceanResearch #HSWRI #ProtectOurOceans #WildlifeProtection #MarineLife "
