43 business days and counting down for the new Clean Industry Bonus. The UK government has opened the doors for this brand-new scheme that’s handing out up to GBP 200 million (around EUR 240 million) in financial rewards to offshore wind developers who put their money where their mouth is and invest in areas like traditional oil and gas communities. Offshore wind projects will get a sweet start with an initial bonus of GBP 27 million per gigawatt. And if developers commit to building 7-8 gigawatts of wind power, they can expect a total funding boost of up to GBP 200 million. The Energy Secretary will announce the results of the funding competition in the summer.
