Her self-advocacy in equal pay reached far beyond her own struggles, culminating in the Lily Ledbetter Fair Pay Act of 2009, which made it easier for those seeking fair pay justice to file pay discrimination charges and protect their rights. Lily frequently spoke on behalf of pay equity and worker rights, and her contributions are seen as critical to ensuring fair wages and better legal protections and marginalized groups in the workforce.
