This planning study highlights the opportunity to leverage the campus's strategic location, the upcoming rezoning of the surrounding area, and a new Metro-North commuter rail station to create a thriving community anchor. Last week, HR&A Managing Partner Stan Wall, P.E. joined an insightful panel discussion hosted by U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development's Office of Policy Development & Research (PD&R) Quarterly Update, focusing on the intersection of transit-oriented development (TOD) and affordable housing.? ? Earlier this month, L.A. County voters passed Measure A, a half-cent sales tax projected to generate $1.2 billion annually for homelessness services and housing—more than doubling the funds provided by Measure H, L.A. County’s initial homelessness measure passed in 2017. Measure A’s passage represents a renewed commitment to addressing homelessness at its roots. Working with The Angeleno Project and in close collaboration with County agencies and stakeholders, HR&A developed a comprehensive assessment of Measure A’s economic impact in advance of the election, demonstrating how Measure A helps to support important mental health services and offers L.A. officials an unprecedented opportunity to advance innovative solutions to L.A.’s housing crisis, from master-leasing to increased support for affordable housing projects. Reflecting on this work, Partner Judith Taylor shared, “Our analysis shows that Measure A has the potential to deliver significant economic benefits for L.A. County while addressing our homelessness and affordable housing crises. HR&A’s Housing Affordability Practice is seeking a Director focused on housing transactions, based in our Washington, DC office. In this role, you’ll be structuring funds, underwriting, and closing loans and investments for mixed-income and affordable housing developments. Working closely with HR&A's Housing Practice leadership, the Director will develop innovative housing investment vehicles, conduct market research, and collaborate with public and private sector partners to maximize the public impact of each project. Ideal candidates will bring 8–12 years of relevant experience, including real estate underwriting, housing finance, and relationship management, particularly in affordable housing.
