We're thrilled that Governor Hochul’s proposed State budget includes $85 million towards the repair and reconstruction of Pier 76. HR&A Advisors is proud to have worked with the Hudson River Park Trust and Field Operations to co-lead the task force in developing consensus around the reuse and funding needs and opportunities for Pier 76. Recommendations coming out of the task force, which were codified in state legislation approved last year, will strengthen the Hudson River Park Trust’s ability to attract funding for and develop new public open space on Pier 76, continuing the transformation of the west side waterfront for area residents and visitors. Additionally, two new mixed-use residential towers have been proposed along 11th and 12th Avenues in Manhattan. The proposed developments could bring more than 1,000 new residential units, including more than 270 permanently affordable homes, and commercial space to Manhattan’s west side. They also have the potential to help further finance the transformation of Pier 76 through an existing air rights transfer mechanism that HR&A helped develop and then got codified into New York City zoning. #UrbanDevelopment #HudsonRiverPark #CommunityEngagement #AffordableHousing #SustainableCities #RealEstateDevelopment

Last week, Director Eri Furusawa had the honor of presenting at a seminar series hosted by the Japanese Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism (MLIT). She shared how U.S. cities addressing decarbonization through urban planning and policy, highlighting our work supporting local governments, nonprofits, utilities, and other critical stakeholders use their unique powers to reduce emissions and overcome common challenges to implementation. We connected with over 150 experts, including local and national government officials, academics, developers, planners, media experts, and nonprofits.
