    Happy Monday!! It's always fun to kick off the week reading about a Friday Court decision that only adds to the Q4 scramble by HR professionals. As you can see from the article below, the salary threshold for white-collar exemptions from overtime that increased from $35,568 to $43,880 per year on July 1st and had been set to rise to $58,656 annually as of Jan. 1, 2025... have been struck down. So what to do now? If you already made salary adjustments prior to July 1st or in anticipation of the changes on January 1st, we recommend leaving those changes in place. While it may be tempting to revert back to former salary levels, that is a "take away" of epic proportions that likely not land well with those impacted. If you took advantage of these changes to audit your wage & hour practices and ensure no one was misclassified, well done... you're better prepared going forward. Don't forget.. specific state laws & changes may still apply (For example .. NY implemented it's own changes that aren't impacted by the federal court ruling).     Had a chance to give a follow up presentation to the Greater Monadnock Society for Human Resource Management last week on the impact of AI on HR.. and most importantly HR professionals. While I'm only scratching the surface myself, I'm convinced AI is the next best opportunity for those of us in HR to increase our value. We "got our seat at the table" to a great extent, years ago. When new technology like AI comes about that has the capacity to dramatically impact and transform virtually every function within an organization, there are more opportunities and pitfalls to travel through than can be imagined. There are also new competencies and skills that need to be developed throughout an organization in order to navigate this new world well. That's where HR can play a pivotal role. That's what we're supposed to figure out. Company wide. HR professionals need to Champion the best use of AI, the policies, the practices necessary and the training and development activities to position your organization to succeed in this new world. Remember, today's opportunity is tomorrow's expectation and the future's lost opportunity if we don't act today. How are you using AI in your company? #AIforHR #HRforAI #watchbias
