Breaking news?? The Information just reported that Amazon will launch a Temu-inspired Chinese brand marketplace. The marketplace will sell unbranded items in fashion, home goods, and other categories. Products will be delivered overseas in 9-11 days. Well, the Amazon/Chinese brand battle is about to get much more interesting. The frustrations of US brands competing against lower-priced Chinese brands have been heard over and over again. While this move seeks to improve customer experience by offering more selection at a lower price, it seems that those sellers' frustrations have fallen on deaf ears. The million-dollar question is: Will US sellers be allowed to participate? Can they have their suppliers ship directly to Amazon's China warehouse? If the answer is no, this move could seriously upset US sellers who are already facing major platform challenges. It's a touchy situation, for sure.
