Disrupting the unequal investment in women-owned ventures and propelling women-led businesses forward

关于我们

How Women Invest is an early stage venture firm, and sister entity to How Women Lead, a professional network of over 14,000 women. We see that female founders are a force to be reckoned with and are part of an untapped venture capital landscape. We will invest in U.S. based, female-led and female-majority owned companies in most industry sectors. With 40% of companies founded by women, generating 26% greater returns, and yet only 2% of venture backing, How Women Invest focuses at the intersection of this opportunity to create ecosystem change. ???What if the next wave of wealth, innovation, and impact was powered by women? That’s the future we’re building. Last night I hosted The New Table: Women’s Month Edition — From Celebration to Capital? where we didn't just highlight gaps—we unlocked possibility. ? What’s The New Table? ? It’s a bold initiative by?How Women Invest?to mobilize?10,000 women as venture investors, driving resources toward the most underinvested—and highest potential—segment of the innovation economy: women founders. Why now? Because the opportunity has never been bigger: ??Women launch nearly 40% of all U.S. businesses?(U.S. Census Bureau, 2024) ??Women influence up to 80% of household purchasing decisions?(NielsenIQ, 2024) ??By 2030, women will control $30 trillion in U.S. wealth?(McKinsey & Company, 2024) ??Female-founded companies deliver 35% higher ROI?(First Round Capital, 2024) And yet—there’s still room to grow: ?? Only?2%?of VC funding goes to women-led companies?(PitchBook, 2024) ?? Only?15%?of board seats are held by women?(Deloitte, 2024) ?? Only?1.4%?of U.S. assets are managed by women or people of color?(Knight Foundation, 2024) ???That’s not just a gap—it’s a massive market opportunity waiting to be seized. Highlights from the event: ???Julie Castro Abrams?shared how investing in women isn’t charity—it’s smart business and a long-overdue strategy. How Women Invest VC is now on Fund III and invests in only women founded teams. We also heard from the talented founders: ?? Crystal Nyitray,?Encillin?(focused on next generation therapies, starting with endocrine disorders) ?? Julie Gordon White????,?MenoWell Bars?(Oprah Daily’s Best Menopause Product) ?? Rachel Zayas-Schwartz,?AGED Diagnostics?(a diagnostics venture focused on developing diagnostic tools for nonalcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH, liver disease) and fibrosis (liver scarring) And we celebrated over exceptional wines curated by?Amy (Horrum) Morgan founder of Bay Area Wine Company, highlighting female winemakers ?? What’s next? The future of venture is inclusive, diverse, and driven by impact—and it starts with more women at the investor table. Invest in the future you want to see. If you’ve ever thought: ???Could I become an investor? ???How can I support innovation that reflects my values? ???Where can I make a difference with my capital? I didn’t think I was being that active in VC/PE this past year. I intentionally stepped back. I paused most of my travel. I stopped showing up at networking events. I took a break from in-person involvement. At times, I even questioned if my presence in the VC/PE space really mattered. And yet—the phone kept ringing. The inbox stayed full. The work didn’t stop. Being named to the Power 100—as an independent—means the world to me. The independent part is genuinely no accident. I’ve made tough choices (mostly turned down money/opportunities and/or pissed people off ??) to prioritize my independence so I can show up for fund managers/founders, say ?? what I want, and be unapologetically loud when it matters (in other words, I prefer my friends could turn around and say, “yo, I don’t know her” to a potential funder who disagrees with my perspectives..). The truth is, I made THE choice. I want my people to win. Whether it's backchanneling in the group chat about a grant opportunity, being on a panel at a conference, or a friend pretending they don't know me because I said "shit" too many times on stage (that's cool, I get it), everything is rooted in whether my people can win. That is my lane. I don't always have the capital to invest or to be on all the airplanes; I stay a FOREVER hype girl. And this past year clarified what I already knew to be true: my presence in this space has never been about a title. It’s about impact. Thank you for seeing me Power100 Presented By Blueprint Capital Advisors LLC. Thank you for recognizing my work. Let’s keep building. #venturecapital #privateequity #leadership

Did you know that investing in women-led companies isn't just a good thing to do, it's a smart financial move? ?? In our latest conversation with Rachel Zayas-Schwartz we explored why this is the case, and the data is compelling! Here are some key takeaways: ? Investing in women-led companies can lead to higher returns, with data showing up to 34% more profit. ? Women-led companies often outperform male-led companies one-to-one. ? It's time to shift the narrative: investing in women is not charity; it's a sound investment strategy. ? Women hold a significant portion of wealth, and by investing in women founders, we can drive positive change and innovation. We also discussed the importance of encouraging more women to become investors and how this can create a ripple effect of abundance and opportunity. This episode was created in partnership with the Nasdaq Foundation. Together, we are working to educate, inspire, and engage women from diverse backgrounds on venture investing and entrepreneurship. Did you know that only 2% of venture funding goes to women-led companies? Together, we are working to show that women are the new face of venture investing. Success isn’t solo—lifting others lifts you too. The best leaders bring others up with them. We’ve built that theory into our Credo: Be fierce advocates for one another.
