With a background as a Senior Account Manager, Sarah has a proven ability to manage complex accounts, deliver tailored coverage solutions and build strong client relationships. In addition, Sarah has a Bachelor’s Degree in International Studies and Political Science from Virginia Commonwealth University. Sarah holds a Commercial Lines Coverage Specialist (CLCS) designation. Thank you to Chubb Insurance for inviting us to the annual Power Boat Show in Annapolis, Maryland. 🚤 We had a beautiful day touring a wide variety of boats at the marina and connecting with fellow risk advisors. Our team also attended an informative breakfast session with Chubb Insurance and the American Boat and Yacht Council (ABYC). The discussions focused on the latest safety concerns for boat owners and the evolving insurance trends within the personal watercraft space. It was a great opportunity to learn more about the solutions and risk mitigation strategies available to better equip our clients and protect their watercraft. Recently, Team HWP traveled to Nashville for Applied Net 2024. Each year, we send our team to stay updated on industry trends and discover innovative ways to enhance our account management workflows. This year, topics such as AI, preparing for the next generation of insurance and advancements in Applied’s Employee Benefits technology left our team excited to implement these solutions back on the East Coast. Attending Applied Net helps us ensure we bring back the latest industry insights and innovative solutions to better serve our valued clients. Beyond the seminars, our team enjoyed networking and a session with William McRaven, a retired US Navy 4-star Admiral. He shared inspiring stories from his time as a Navy SEAL and discussed how leadership lessons from his military career can be applied to tackle challenges in our workplaces and everyday lives. Another important reason to carry EPL Insurance is having an expert legal team to navigate EEOC investigations/allegations concerning "reasonable accommodation." The EEOC case below involves an employee's commute to work. Per the ADA, Under Title I of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), a reasonable accommodation is "a modification or adjustment to a job, the work environment, or the way things are usually done during the hiring process. These modifications enable an individual with a disability to have an equal opportunity not only to get a job, but successfully perform their job tasks to the same extent as people without disabilities." The EEOC news release concerning the employee's commute provides reality in how far the law can reach into business operations: "Rosemarie Rhodes, the EEOC’s Baltimore field office director, said, 'The ADA specifies that reasonable accommodation is not limited to the four corners of the office, but extends to all terms and conditions of employment.'" Just like our approach to insurance, we believe in doing our best to be proactive. 14 of our staff members recently completed the required training to be CPR, First Aid & AED certified. This included completing pre-class coursework before attending an in-person seminar. In this class, they were trained in how to respond to emergency situations not just for adults, but for children and infants as well. In a crisis, having the proper training equips individuals with the skills and knowledge needed to respond effectively, make decisions quickly, and potentially save lives.
