Today the Howard Law Group team gathered in our office and remotely to conduct our monthly cross training session. The goal of these trainings is to allow our lawyers and paralegals to learn about the entire foreclosure litigation process from beginning to end, even if the specific area being discussed is not their role. Squatters are an issue across the Country causing property owners to lose possession of real property they own. Florida Governor DeSantis signed House Bill 621 which provides property owners with remedies against squatting and increases penalties on squatters. A Verified Complaint stating the facts surrounding the squatter situation is simply emailed to the Sheriff's Office. The sheriff is supposed to treat the Verified Complaint as a writ of possession and execute the writ by posting a 24 hour eviction notice on the door and then scheduling the lockout.
