As the #recycling landscape changes and #consumers grapple with confusion around disposal, our How2Recycle Forward campaign is meeting the moment. The campaign comprises four key initiatives:? 1?? Refreshing our label design 2?? Strengthening our data ecosystem 3?? Optimizing our operations 4?? Empowering consumers to make informed disposal decisions The How2Recycle Pro label has been refreshed to be more clear, actionable, and compliant to ensure accuracy no matter when- or where a label is issued. Pending legislative review, the label will soon be available to How2Recycle members in their member portal. We’re also offering members the opportunity to adopt a dynamic QR code label, How2Recycle Plus featuring Recycle Check. This label utilizes data from The Recycling Partnership’s National Recycling Database to provide consumers with localized disposal instructions, and is available to members now! Last week, as part of our How2Recycle Summit, two groups of attendees had the chance to tour the Exchange Material Recovery Facility (MRF), operated by LRS. The Exchange processes 25 tons per hour, roughly 1 million tons per day! In addition to seeing the mechanical process of their MRF, we learned about the ways in which LRS prioritizes innovation and sustainability: ?? The LRS Exchange MRF won the 2024 Recycling Facility of the Year Award by the National Waste & Recycling Association ?? They use a fully electric material handler and are trying to electrify where possible to reduce their facility's carbon emissions ?? Despite not profiting from glass recycling, LRS continues to recycle it anyway, considering it important to close the loop with glass ?? Plastic film is their largest contaminant ??
