How to Startup in Medtech

Sadly - Growing rumours of major layoffs coming to the #surgicalrobotics sector - Low sales - low revenues - delays in product specs - maybe worse Could be one of many companies - Will be a shame and a failure of management in such a growing sector. But not surprising. Lots of big plans made without understanding just how hard this is. Lack of senior experience in this difficult field. I’m more impressed with the “Chinese” robots than I first thought. You sit on a MicroPort MedBot #Toumai and you could almost believe you are driving an Intuitive Xi in many ways. I was blown away by the #kangduo telesurgery achievements - triple console driving 5 arms is “cool” / Ronovo Surgical #carina is the stand out as “it’s different” and not a clone. And actually - technically not a Chinese robot !! Very nice to drive. But what staggered me the most was how many advanced instruments the companies have - how fast they are getting “the features that matter” on the systems It is going to be a massive uphill struggle for them all - so they need to find their right markets - right level of user - but they might gain some of the market … What do you think ? Da Vinci 5 by Intuitive is not the first mainframe surgical robot with force feedback! ?? Asensus Surgical with #senhance has had this capability for quite some years - but get little credit for it. Some people ask - "Then why did it not do so well?" Force Feedback and haptics is a complex and delicate science - Too much lag and it feels "Weird" Wrong scaling and you don't get the right force translation.
