MOCA London?announces its first Augmented Reality exhibition titled “Encounter” by the renowned California-based artist David Van Eyssen (https://lnkd.in/eRBVfqvP), powered by Hoverlay. The exhibition opens on September 29th and closes October 26th. Visitors will enter what appears to be an empty gallery except for a QR code. Once they scan the QR, it will allow them to download Hoverlay and see David’s virtual artwork in real time. On the screen they will discover that a life-sized car crash occupies the space! They will be able to walk around the two cars and their drivers, who have shot through their windscreens and are suspended above the viewers’ heads. Inside the gallery, the car appears to have crashed through MOCA’s front window. From outside, visitors can see the back end of the car protruding through the glass.?This incredibly life like work has been geolocated by the artist so that it can only be seen at the MOCA Project Space. “The Lovers Dance”?by Yvette Mayorga (https://lnkd.in/eCbFAUfB) is her first Augmented Reality public work created for “Augmented Chicago: Inaugural Realities” virtual art exhibition in Chicago’s Millennium Park. Drawing from the stories and shapes of her intricately piped paintings and public installations, Mayorga creates an immersive, interactive experience that reflects her signature feminine world-building. In “The Lovers Dance”, she explores themes of belonging and love by depicting two dancers emerging from the sky, set against a backdrop of piped frosted clouds reminiscent of a theatrical play. “Augmented Chicago: Inaugural Realities” virtual art exhibition is unveiled in Chicago’s Millennium Park to celebrate park’s 20th Anniversary (on view now through November 2025). The exhibition showcases innovative works of four internationally celebrated Chicago-based artists, Claire Ashley (https://lnkd.in/eBrSUuYB), Faheem Majeed (https://lnkd.in/eN5A38rm), Yvette Mayorga (https://lnkd.in/eCbFAUfB) and Carlos Rolón, pioneering the use of Augmented Reality (AR) for the first time in the vibrant setting of Millennium Park. The exhibition is powered by Hoverlay, curated by Lucas Cowan (https://lnkd.in/eFKEUU3Y) and produced by Millennium Park Foundation (https://lnkd.in/eV-82YUe). #augmentedreality #chicagoart #chicago #MillenniumPark #immersive #immersiveart #mixedreality #digitalart #digitalartist #virtualart #augmentedrealityart #chicagoartists #augmentedchicago

“Freedom’s Stand: Sentries Beacon”?by Faheem Majeed (https://lnkd.in/eN5A38rm), a professor of art at the University of Illinois at Chicago, is an homage to the pioneering spirit of Black newspapers in the United States, drawing on the legacy of community-generated news and self-representation. Inspired by the historical impact of Freedom’s Journal, the first Black-owned newspaper founded in 1827, this augmented reality sculpture highlights the importance of Black voices in media.?The design, reminiscent of traditional newsstands integrated with Dogon granary aesthetics, creates a living archive. These sculptures showcase a curated collection of headlines, articles, and advertisements from 209 Black newspapers, ensuring the work remains dynamic and ever-changing. “Augmented Chicago: Inaugural Realities” virtual art exhibition is unveiled in Chicago’s Millennium Park to celebrate park’s 20th Anniversary (on view now through November 2025). The Swamp Observatory: Eco-Monsters of the Future Swamp is a conceptual AR playground created by Nomeda & Gediminas Urbonas, powered by Hoverlay. Based on a collaboration with primary school youth, the project proposes a new type of multi-sensorial public space where humans and nonhumans meet in a hybrid world of reality and ?ction. AR experiences facilitate a vision of a “shadow biosphere” —life forms yet invisible to us—and seeks to catalyze human imagination for new commonalities that open up for relational experimentation with living and nonliving matter around us. #augmentedreality #augmentedrealityart #augmentedrealityapp #immersiveexperience #immersive #environmental #immersiveart

Congratulations to our client The Strong National Museum of Play for being selected by USA TODAY as one of the Top 10 Pop Culture Museums in the country. We loved working closely with their team over the last year to create this #interactive #augmentedreality #immersive #butterfly experience for their new wing that now houses the World Video Game Hall of Fame and a whole exhibit hall devoted to interactive experiences. The experience not only incorporates their team's #groundbreaking approach to #fundraising and #donorappreciation by including the names of their donors, but also provides a playful, new exhibit for their collection that builds on the museum's butterfly theme and that visitors of all ages can enjoy. You can check out what makes The Strong so special in the article here: https://lnkd.in/gUUFjWQa the country.
