Houston Hospice is Greater Houston's oldest, largest, independent, nonprofit hospice. Founded in 1980, we are a leader in the hospice care industry and provide services to patients and families of all ages and ethnicities. Headquartered in the Texas Medical Center, Houston Hospice serves 13 counties across Texas and includes: Austin, Brazoria, Chambers, Colorado, Fort Bend, Galveston, Harris, Jackson, Liberty, Matagorda, Montgomery, Waller, and Wharton. We believe no one should live in pain or in fear of being alone. Teams of physicians, nurses, hospice aides, social workers, chaplains, counselors and trained volunteers provide physical, emotional and spiritual support in homes, assisted living community, and in our Margaret Cullen Marshall Hospice Care Center located in the Texas Medical Center. Teams work with primary care physicians, patients and families to identify goals and create a unique plan of care for each patient. We offer educated counsel and compassionate support and bereavement counseling to loved ones and family members. Houston Hospice is an in-network provider for most insurance companies and is licensed by Medicare and Medicaid. Houston Hospice is a member of the Texas Medical Center, Texas Non-Profit Hospice Alliance and the Texas New Mexico Hospice Organization. Houston Hospice is accredited by the National Institute for Jewish Hospice and by Community Health Accreditation Program, Inc (CHAP). CHAP accreditation publicly certifies that an organization has voluntarily met the highest standards of excellence for home and/or community-based health care.

Holidays are about family and traditions. And Houston Hospice is so fortunate that one family continues to make us part of their Thanksgiving tradition year after year. 2024 makes 26 years -- and counting! ?? Around this time 26 years ago and in the weeks leading up to Thanksgiving, Houston Hospice cared for Rich Arenschieldt’s mom before she passed. So Rich and his sister decided to honor their mom and her love of the holidays by blessing the families, staff and volunteers at Houston Hospice with an abundance of pies each year! If you’ve ever been to House of Pies you know what a special treat this is! ?? It’s their way of celebrating their mom’s life and paying forward the gratitude they feel for those who cared for her in her final days. ?? "We altered our focus and choose to remember what we had with our mom instead of what we lost," said Rich. "And this helps us get through this difficult time each year." Thank you, Rich! Houston Hospice had the pleasure of hosting health care professionals last night for our National Hospice and Palliative Care Month's, "Power Hour: Not All #CareHeroes Wear Capes." ??? Visitors were able to speak with members of our interdisciplinary teams to learn how our nonprofit hospice organization supports patients and families with compassionate end-of-life care. We also gave them a guided tour of our inpatient unit in the heart of the Texas Medical Center. November is National Hospice and Palliative Care Month and this year's theme is #CareHeroes! One of the ways we're celebrating our team is with Wellness Wednesdays. ?? We're so lucky to have a volunteer who is also a yoga instructor! Tina led everyone is a restorative yoga session, which left everyone feeling refreshed and ready to take on the afternoon! Our Texas Medical Center staff and volunteers enjoyed yoga in the historic gardens at Holcombe House, while our Northwest Office and El Campo teams joined us virtually.
