Spotlight on Service: Houston Food Bank Volunteer Day We are delighted to showcase the remarkable efforts of our SNOWFOX? and SnowFruit team, who joined forces to volunteer at the Houston Food Bank on August 25, 2024. Collaborating with the Houston Food Bank, our esteemed community service partner, enables us to positively impact the lives of those facing food insecurity in the 18 southeast Texas counties they serve. ? Approximately 1 million individuals in these counties lack regular access to sufficient nutritious food for a healthy lifestyle. To combat this challenge, the Houston Food Bank distributes food and essentials through a network of over 1,600 community partners. The team's dedication and hard work made a significant difference in the community, showcasing their strong commitment to making a positive impact. We are immensely proud of their collective dedication to giving back, and we value the Houston Food Bank as a key partner in our community outreach efforts. ? During the volunteer day, our team members engaged in various activities, from sorting and packing food donations to organizing warehouse supplies. Their efforts contributed to the seamless distribution of vital resources to families in need. One volunteer, Matt Connelly, Director of Business Development, reflected on his day: "Working at the Houston Food Bank was a wonderful experience. Watching our team collaborate with each other and other volunteers to provide meals for folks in need was very enriching.” ? As we look forward to future volunteer opportunities, we remain dedicated to supporting initiatives that address critical community needs. Together, we can continue to make a difference, one volunteer day at a time.
关于我们
Houston Food Bank’s mission is to provide food for better lives. Each year, Hh provides access to more than 150 million meals and in FY 2021, a year of COVID response, we made 207 million meals possible in 18 counties in southeast Texas through our 1,600 community partners of food pantries, soup kitchens, social service providers and schools. Filling gaps on plates, we have a strong focus on healthy foods and fresh produce. In collaboration with our community, we advocate for policy change and racial equity, and promote dialogue on ways to increase access to food and to improve the lives of those in our communities, including services and connections to programs that address the root causes of hunger and are aimed at helping families achieve long-term stability: nutrition education, health management, and help with securing state-funded assistance. We are a resource for individuals and families in times of hardship. Houston Food Bank works alongside our partner food banks in Montgomery County, Galveston Country, and Brazos Valley. Houston Food Bank is a certified member of Feeding America, the nation’s food bank network, with a four-star rating from Charity Navigator. This institution is an equal opportunity provider.
