I actually started in patient billing back in 1989 as a summer student. So back in the late 80s, if your parent worked here, you could come and work during the summers. It was like a little internship. And, you know, it was eye opening, and it gave me something to aspire for. So when I started college, I actually started in business because I really liked what I was doing here. I basically have just grown up in the organization. But it all started with my mom. And she worked here back in the early 60s. Started out as an elevator operator and she actually grew in the company as well. She went from there to radiology (radiology tech), where she served 35 years, actually. I've grown in this department throughout the 36 years I’ve been here. Started out as a little intern and actually worked my way up from mailroom to billing. I started in a leadership role as a supervisor and now I’m director of corporate revenue cycle. And specifically, I manage the patient billing team. It is not only just patient billing, but we also help patients with payment options, which is mainly what we do. A big part of that is our charity care program. I love how Houston Methodist embraces all different types of backgrounds. It is representative of Houston. I love this job, I love it, I love the organization. But I think none of this would be possible without my mom, you know, introducing me to this wonderful organization that has built my career. It feels like every day I'm honoring her. -- Kimberley Doucet, Director of Corporate Revenue Cycle

This is a second career for me. Way back when, I was in development and fundraising and special event planning and really found a lot of purpose there and enjoyed it, and then started having kids and moving around with family. My youngest daughter was diagnosed with multiple food allergies. I had always had an interest in nutrition and biology, but when she was diagnosed with food allergies, all of a sudden it was like, whoa — food that is nourishing for some, it was not so nourishing for her. So, I worked on becoming a registered dietitian, and I've really enjoyed that. I’ve been a dietician for 15 years, and I’ve been at Houston Methodist for three years in the center for Weight Loss and Bariatric Surgery in Houston Methodist Sugar Land’s outpatient department. I really enjoy who I work with, my team. I love the patients too. I really enjoy the time that I get to spend with them and helping them improve their quality of life. If I can help a patient or person improve their quality of life for food and nutrition through lifestyle intervention, then, that brings me great satisfaction. I really enjoy what I do. --Wynnifred Hoodis, Houston Methodist Sugar Land registered dietician
