关于我们
MISSION STATEMENT Committed to improving the quality of life for Chicago’s low-income elderly, Housing Opportunities and Maintenance for the Elderly (H.O.M.E.) is a 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to helping seniors remain independent and part of their community by offering intergenerational living and by providing a variety of housing support services. H.O.M.E. helps low-income seniors meet the basic needs that sustain their independence and keep them connected to their communities. Our services include: ? An upkeep and repair program to ensure seniors enjoy healthy and safe living conditions. ? A shopping bus assists seniors with transport to grocery stores where they have access to food and supplies that are essential to their well-being. ? An intergenerational housing program in three affordable buildings where seniors live with families and young adults in private apartments or, for residents who need some assistance, Good Life Senior Residences. ? A moving program offers seniors support and assistance through one of life’s most stressful events—relocating from one home to another. Volunteer Throughout the year, H.O.M.E. welcomes volunteers for seasonal and ongoing projects as well as one-time volunteer opportunities. For more information about our Volunteer Services, please call Mike Laz at (773) 295.2709.

It’s Indigenous Peoples' Day! Today and every day, we honor the native land that we're on, as well as its keepers—their cultures, traditions, and remarkable contributions. H.O.M.E.'s programs and services operate on the traditional homelands of the Council of Three Fires—Ojibwe, Potawatomi, and Odawa—alongside the Menominee, Miami, and Ho-Chunk nations. We recognize the rich history of this land, which has been a site of trade, travel, gathering, and healing for over a dozen Native tribes. We are also mindful that this land is still home to over 100,000 tribal members in what is now known as the State of Illinois. As an organization rooted in diversity, equity, inclusion, and justice, we acknowledge the harm caused to Indigenous communities and stand in solidarity with Native and Indigenous peoples. Our commitment to healing begins with recognizing and rectifying the injustices of the past. With compassion and commitment, we strive to dismantle barriers, promote inclusivity, and create meaningful opportunities for Native and Indigenous populations. Let us use this day to reflect, learn, and reaffirm our dedication to be part of the solution in fostering unity, respect, and healing. #IndigenousPeoplesDay #LandAcknowledgement #HealingJourney

Lois, at 77, embodies warmth and wisdom, having devoted her life to nurturing others as a nanny and a teacher's aide. Lois eagerly embraces her rides on H.O.M.E.’s shopping bus, where each trip to is brimming with connection and camaraderie. "I go shopping myself, but the bus gives me a chance to be with other people," Lois warmly shares. The shopping bus doesn't just connect seniors with essential goods; it creates vital opportunities for socializing and connection. We invite you to delve deeper into Lois's story and other members of our beloved community at H.O.M.E. at https://lnkd.in/dpFsqc_9! #HOMESeniors #SeniorsMatter #AgingwithGrace #Intergenerational #ShoppingBus #CommunityProgram #CommunityLove #Belonging

Thank you Brief But Spectacular for highlighting H.O.M.E. Board President & Sagecare trainer Britta Larson & the work of SAGE! This is an incredible program rooted in love and inclusivity, and we couldn't be happier to be a part of it at H.O.M.E.
Older adults are less likely to share their LGBTQ+ identities with care providers, and their silence can compromise physical, mental, spiritual, and social well-being. But a growing number of residential centers are becoming SAGECare certified so they can better understand the diverse challenges the older adult LGBTQ+ community faces. In this episode of our Longevity series, SAGECare trainer Britta Larson shares her Brief But Spectacular take on feeling at home.
