Fortified roofs, which involve stronger fasteners and water sealant, are more wind resistant, making it less likely a home will take on serious damage if hurricane hits. #HousingLOUISIANA https://lnkd.in/d9jkEG_H

New Orleans housing advocates see the state’s use of ERAP as contrary to its purpose. ERAP was given to the state as part of federal COVID-relief packages to help low-income households cover rental and utility payments. “My first question is, why is there leftover rental assistance? That should not have been lying around in state coffers, “ said Andreanecia Morris, director of HousingNOLA, noting that the city halted its ERAP program last year, for lack of money. #HousingLOUISIANA https://lnkd.in/ga4FZqnY

‘Unclear at this time’ Louisiana’s Office of Community Development has overseen planning and distribution of the funds after they arrive from Washington. It issued a statement Thursday saying it “is actively seeking more information regarding possible staffing changes at HUD. “Any potential impact on our agency and the citizens we serve is unclear at this time,” it said. The longtime head of that office until January 2024, Pat Forbes, said he was concerned cute could further delay the process of distributing the funding as well as reduce oversight nationally. #HousingLOUISIANA https://lnkd.in/gnRCkU-Q
