Housing Families works to achieve housing equity and well-being for all.
关于我们
Housing Families Inc. was founded in 1986 by community members concerned about the growing crisis of homelessness among families in the cities of Everett, Malden, and Medford. Currently Housing Families primarily serves the cities of Malden, Medford, Everett, Chelsea, and Revere. 99% of families served reside in Greater Boston and the North Shore. Since 1986, the organization has grown into one of the largest operators of affordable housing for homeless and very low-income families in Massachusetts. Over 5,000 families have been helped since we first opened our doors. At Housing Families, we are working to achieve housing equity and well-being for all. As a nonprofit organization, we partner with communities, families, and individuals to ensure housing stability by offering personalized services including temporary and permanent housing, food assistance, individual counseling and group therapy, legal assistance, and youth programs. Housing Families is the only non-profit in Greater Boston to provide these holistic services under one umbrella.

#FlashbackFriday: When?Housing Families?needed support for our 2024 annual toy drive, our community stepped up in a BIG way! Thanks to the incredible generosity of local organizations and individuals, we far surpassed our goal—collecting nearly 4,000 toys valued at over $43,000, along with more than $8,000 in gift cards for kids and teens in our programs. “I just think once you get into the mood of being kind and doing charitable things, it’s infectious and contagious, and you want to do more of it,” says Stephanie Nelson, Executive Director of the Melrose Chamber Of Commerce. This outpouring of support truly reflects that sentiment. A special thank you to Leading Edge Real Estate,?International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW) Local 2222,?Marine Toys for Tots Foundation; Incarnation Catholic Church; Teamsters Local 25;?Malden Catholic; Malden Police Department; and Idle Hands Craft Ales, and the Melrose partners led by the Melrose Chamber Of Commerce, which includes Melrose Kind, Melrose Alliance Against Violence, and the Melrose Rotary Club. Your contributions have made a lasting impact! ???Check out the coverage from 7 NEWS, WHDH-TV on how the Melrose Community supported us this year! https://lnkd.in/gPVywCNv #HousingFamilies #Support #ToyDrive #MelroseMA #HolidayGiving #ActsOfKindness #Nonprofit

Through Their Eyes: Children Express Themselves through EnrichEd We are delighted to share drawings from the incredible kids in our EnrichEd program, offering heartwarming insights into their experiences! From the playful shout-outs, to "pizza" and "pigeon" by our youngest artists, to inspiring themes of community and connection found in the older children's work, these drawings are a testament to creativity blossoming in a supportive environment. Each piece not only reflects their creativity but also embodies the joy, friendships, and growth fostered in Housing Families' EnrichEd program. We believe these beautiful expressions deserve to shine, capturing the essence of what EnrichEd stands for. A Heartwarming Story of Hope from Housing Families' Warming Center We are truly grateful for the profound impact our Warming Centers can have on individuals experiencing housing insecurity. A mother and her adult son came to us looking for shelter, and their journey has touched our hearts deeply. With tears of gratitude in her eyes, the mother thanked our staff for making their stay as comfortable as possible. They have been coming to our Warming Center while they searched for housing that could accommodate them both. Even though housing was previously offered to him, her son has consistently chosen to stay with her, refusing to leave her on the streets. We are hopeful that with two openings coming soon, this family will find the stability they deserve. It's stories like these that motivate us every day. Thank you to everyone who supports our mission to create safe havens and foster compassion. ???Want to learn more about our Warming Centers and the incredible people we serve?
