Today, Assemblymember Buffy Wicks and Senator Christopher Cabaldon introduced AB 736 & SB 417, a $10 billion affordable housing bond that, if passed, will be on the November 2026 ballot. This is a chance to invest in proven solutions that will build and preserve 135,000 affordable homes, create housing for families with the greatest needs, and strengthen communities across the state. As Housing California’s Executive Director, Chione Flegal, said: "Too many Californians—especially people of color and low-income families—are being pushed out of their communities because they can’t afford rent, putting them at direct risk of homelessness. This bond is a welcome step toward building the affordable homes Californians need, bringing resources to millions of people struggling to make ends meet, and giving voters the power to take action on one of the state’s most urgent crises.” We know the scale of the crisis, but we also know how to solve it. This bond is a real opportunity to create lasting housing stability and shared prosperity. Join us in the fight. ?? Sign on as an official supporter: https://lnkd.in/gYYuefxC ??
