It was a team win for Housing Navigator @ Gillette for New England Affordable Housing Management Association's annual conference. Last week, our Partner Success Manager Abigail Werner, MBA and Product Manager Grace Mitchell shared insights from years of user testing and feedback, and received feedback from property managers and other attendees to guide our site improvements. A special shoutout to our partners John M. Corcoran & Company, First Realty Management, Beacon Communities LLC, and Housing Management Resources, Inc. for their thoughtful engagement throughout the session. We look forward to seeing everyone again at NEAHMA 2025!

Thrilled to see Massachusetts Law Reform Institute using our data in its recent report on Fall River's affordable housing. It was our dream that if we provided the data, advocates would dig in and leverage it for their work. So proud to see our vision is a reality! The best beginnings go on to the next stage! Our Founder/ED has announced her transition out of the role in spring 2025. Read more here. We'll be posting the position description for the person to lead us into the next phase of impact, bringing ease and equity to the housing search journey here.
Change is Ahead: Founding and leading Housing Navigator Massachusetts, Inc has been a gratifying, humbling, and fascinating experience usually all at the same time! I will be forever proud of what our collective hard work makes possible. I’ve also known that at some point, I would want to move on to the next thing. Today, I’m announcing that I’ve decided to start my transition out of the ED role. The Board has been working with me to ensure there’s a smooth process that, most of all, will maintain the quality people deserve and expect from our tools and organization. What happens next for Navigator? The Navigator Board will be working with Koya Partners/Diversified Search Group to find the next leader. There is a great team at Navigator, strong balance sheet, and a solid organizational underpinning (proud of that too!) I will be in the ED role until early spring, 2025 to keep all systems running smoothly and have some overlap with the new ED. What happens next for me? For 15 years, I consulted to nonprofits and the public sector. I honestly miss it. After a travel break, I’ll return to that role bringing in a whole new set of learnings from the last 7+ years leading a social impact tech venture. So no changes just yet. I’ll be right here for the next several months. Plus, I look forward to continuing to work alongside many of you. Finally, it's Thursday afterall...why not a look back??? Here's the first mock-up for a mapped search on Housing Navigator c. 2018. Plenty has changed (whoa, orange!). And also today's mission and commitment to ease and access tie right back to those earliest days. I look forward to supporting the next phase and next leader of Housing Navigator MA!

"Finding housing in Massachusetts is hard. Kudos to the Healey administration for taking a first step toward making it a little easier." Agreeing with Boston Globe Media and its piece this Sunday applauding progress toward a Common Application! https://lnkd.in/e_52eEdN

Three Cheers for Three Years!!! We're celebrating three years since going live today! Enormously grateful to our partners who make what we do possible and our users (400,000 this year) who put their trust in us. We are buoyed by our favorite piece of feedback on Housing Navigator MA from this year's user survey: "They're in Your Corner." Yes we are! And we'll be right here when you need us.

Honored to share this fresh information on a critical resource: our state's supply of affordable + accessible rentals. The gaps, most importantly in housing supply but also in tracking what is produced and where, should encourage us all to focus on how we support housing stability for people with disabilities. One of Housing Navigator MA's most long-standing goals has been collecting this previously unavailable information. Data-driven policy and advocacy start with good data! With appreciation for everyone who helped along the way, we look forward to seeing policy and production grounded in this work. Special thanks to our COO April Ognibene who managed the creation of the report and Angelina Ramirez and Jordan Stocker who advised us along the way. https://lnkd.in/gT94ip5c

We’re proud to have received a three-year grant from the CUMMINGS FOUNDATION to support our work to bring equity and transparency to housing search and housing policy. Their support is a major endorsement for our young organization, and it was great to celebrate with other community-minded organizations as part of their $30MM grant program. Thank you to the?Cummings?Foundation for your generosity, and for hosting such an energetic event!

How can we create something like Housing Navigator MA? We get asked all the time...and we'd like everyone to have easy & complete access to affordable housing information--listings, openings, photos, etc. We're thrilled to have partnered with Ivory Innovations and Exygy on "Equitable Affordable Housing in the Digital Age," a guidebook including 8 key ingredients for success. Check out our refreshed Housing Navigator MA (housingnavigatorma.org) website launched this week! We are honored to feature beautiful images from ArtLifting artists Dominic Killiany & Christine Nelson. Plus, we've collected three years of our Home is the Foundation campaign in one place-- sharing stories of how affordable housing shaped lives including Juana B. Matias, James Arthur Jemison, Shirronda Almeida and Sumbul Siddiqui, Esq. Many thanks to our Product Manager Grace Mitchell for the work of getting it done. And look out later this week for improvements to our 24/7 affordable housing search tool. We are drawing on user feedback, especially from people searching with vouchers, to make it easier for everyone to find their way home.
