This project from ProPublica highlights the objects that people lose during encampment raids, and how the loss of personal items is affecting their ability to get housing. We know encampment raids make homelessness worse. We can solve homelessness by taking a housing and services approach, but throwing out people's personal items helps no one. https://lnkd.in/g5brPj6Q

We are storytellers. We are truth seekers. We are housing justice allies. And we are equity champions. The Housing Narrative Lab builds support for housing solutions that create vibrant, strong and healthy communities. We are a narrative research and implementation hub that shows how stories lead to impact when they reimagine housing as foundational to communities where each of us has the resources and opportunities we need to thrive.

Last week we had the pleasure of spending a day in NYC with partners who represent a number of organizations working to solve homelessness in New York. We discussed the impact of telling powerful personal stories, and how those stories can lead to tangible solutions to housing instability and homelessness. We really look forward to continuing this work with the NYC Fund to End Youth & Family Homelessness and their amazing grantees.

Our fantastic Narrative Strategist Grover has also been traveling this week to attend the Preble Street 2024 Conference on Homelessness. We're feeling so inspired to be part of these powerful conversations that are happening around the country with partners working to solve homelessness.
It’s great to be in a room full of leaders working to solve homelessness in Maine today with Preble Street 2024 Conference on Homelessness in Portland, ME. I heard about a logical and sustained Housing First funding strategy that just passed in the Maine legislature, the success of bringing 160+ people from streets into homes over 100 days in Dallas, TX, the success of leaders who are focused on getting *stuff done and more. I shared some of my story and recommendations to reach more people with Housing Narrative Lab’s 2024 narrative message guidance. Someday everyone will have a home and we will have different jobs. Onward.
