This Thanksgiving, we are thankful for the opportunity to work towards a more inclusive and equitable San Mateo County. As we gather to give thanks, we are reminded of the importance of ensuring everyone has a place to call home. In this season of gratitude, let us also remember that all land in the United States is unceded Indigenous land. We acknowledge the Indigenous communities who have been stewards of this land for generations and continue to honor their resilience. This election showed progress for housing in San Mateo County with wins like Measure T and JJ, but the work isn’t over. In San Mateo County alone, over 2,000 affordable homes have been approved but remain unbuilt due to lack of funding. We need bold action from both local and state leaders to invest in housing and keep our community thriving.
